More big news from Cannes today as it was revealed that Stuart Gordon's next project will be the H.P Lovecraft adaptation, The Thing on the Doorstep, which Gordon has been working on for nearly there years now, according to Variety. He is now in pre-production as Stuck has now completed production. In addition, the article teases a new high-profile horror book adaptation for horror legen Tobe Hooper. Read on for the full details.

Moonstone Entertainment CEO Etchie Stroh is celebrating his 15th anniversary in Cannes by embarking on a partnership with producer Robert Katz. While the L.A.-based Stroh will continue to do international sales and service his 37-film library, he is also diving into production with Katz, whom he has known for two decades, according to Variety.

The duo plans to produce three to four films a year in the $30 million to $40 million range, including a slate of horror films under Katz's Amicus Entertainment banner.

"It's time to close one chapter and get down to the business of some new things," said Stroh, who will provide gap financing for the projects. "If you deal on a micro-level with the territories and keep your hand on the pulse, you can be prepared for all the changes."

Stroh is introducing their first projects in Cannes, which have directors attached but lack casting. Harold Becker will direct their first project, "Recall," a psychological thriller written by Paul Schrader, about a chance meeting between a man and a woman that causes the man to doubt his sanity. Stuart Gordon is in pre-production on "The Thing on the Doorstep," based on the novel by H.P. Lovecraft.

Katz, who acquired horror producer Amicus in 2005, has recently completed production on Gordon's "Stuck," starring Stephen Rea and Mena Suvari.

Moonstone is also in discussions with Tobe Hooper to helm a high-profile horror book adaptation for the new partners.

Stroh is also here with helmer Chen Kaige, whose "The Promise" was handled by Moonstone. Stroh will be shopping several English-language projects for Chen to direct. Stroh plans to attend the 60th anniversary celebration with Chen, who is a participant in the celebratory Cannes omnibus film "Chacun son cinema."

Stroh is also handling international sales for the Dolph Lundgren starrer "Diamond Dogs," and a five-part teen TV series "Roman Mysteries," which has been broadcast by the BBC.
