Hopefully this news is more believable than Jessica Simpson joining the cast of the The Kentucky Horror Movie... It was announced via MySpace bulletin that Charlotte, North Carolina Producer Brian Conlon is in talks with Ashlee Simpson (7th Heaven) to join Rider Strong (Cabin Fever, Borderland) and Adam Hughes (Forever Eden) in Writer/Director Richard Clark's Grinder, which follows a group of eight college students traveling through Western North Carolina when they encounter fates not imaginable even in their darkest nightmares. It was also revealed that an offer went out to B-D fav and horror hottie Lacey Chabert (Black Christmas). Read on for more details and a full synopsis.
Writer/Director Richard Clark, Jr. said in the announcement, "Grinder will be a great film regardless of who we have in it, because it stays true to the horror genre. Grinder is a character driven story, so the more talented people we have on board, the better. I was very excited when I heard about who was interested in the film. These names assure me that more people will get a chance to see my vision. I feel very honored that they are interested in my project. Honestly, not to sound too much like a kid in the candy store, but I am a big fan of all of these actors and it will be a blast to work with them.?"
Full Synopsis: After their final exams, eleven college students plan a road trip to Miami, Florida to blow off some steam. When one of the cars in the convoy is run off the road by a speeding maniac, the group is forced to spend the night in the small Smokey Mountain town of Chapman awaiting the necessary repairs to their car.
Upon their arrival in Chapman, the stranded students learn that the town is occupied by one lone family. This family is the town's name-sake. The town of Chapman has a deserted silence and its stench emanates from a mysterious mill. The town is the self- proclaimed road kill capital of the world. This title is their claim to fame.
The students find a place to stay in Chapman's only motel. The stranded group begin to disappear one by one. The group begins to realize that the smell might not be the only thing rotten about the town.
