I love when I come across good independent horror films, it's a nice break from the crap that keeps hitting theaters. This past weekend I was fortunate enough to be brainwashed by E.L. Katz, Lane Hughes and Adam Wingard's micro-budget psychological horror-thriller Pop Skull, which will appeal more to the "art" loving horror fans than the "gore" hounds. Pay attention to these guys, I see a very big future for them. Pop Skull depicts the lonely and disjointed life of Daniel, a young Alabama pill addict, as his efforts to cope with the trials of his day-to-day life collide with the increasing influence of murderous and displaced spirits that inhabit his home.
I love this movie as well. It is an incredible accomplishment in tone and has a last scene that made me shudder. Even now when I think about it.
Good god. Adam, Lane and E.L. are brilliant filmmakers.
Mr. D.-- how do you get all the screenings, or where do you go???
