'Beetlejuice 2' Gets Green Light, No Keaton?

He's not really the ghost with the most without Michael Keaton attached, but Moviehole.net reports that Warner Home Video is still prepping Beetlejuice 2 for a direct-to-video release sometime next year without hilm. We've been reporting for years now that a sequel has been in the works, it just didn;t sound like it would ever come into fruition. "With Warner Premiere, we're creating an additional stream of new, high-quality, 'fan-ready' DVDs that will be supported by top-notch marketing to help them standout in the increasingly crowded marketplace," says Kevin Tsujihara, President, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group. What do you guys think? post your comments inside. Click the link for more news and watch for Return to House on Haunted Hill in October.

i'm, well, uh... wow.... i'm disgusted. i LOVE beetlejuice, cult classic. how can you take a character that's so connected to the original actor and just say, "oh, well we could make a couple extra bucks on this, oh keaton won't do it, ok..who needs him?" once again, wow...

"NICE FUCKIN' MOVIE!" (Grabs nuts, and honks twice). I think that's probably what the Keaton Beetlejuice would say.

A beetlejuice movie without Michael Keaton is pointless. I hope they change their minds on this one

Why not put all that creativity and hard work into something new? A sequel to a movie like Beetlejuice clearly won't live up to the expectations of the classic original but it will make more money than an original title. Most people will rent it out of curiosity and feel tricked after. I can't help but predict that all these 'fan-ready' DVDs are going to be like this. Sequels to older horror movies seem to be popping up all over the place but none are any good. It just feels like such a waste of resources to me - surely it can't be that hard to make a good movie once you have creative minds and all that money... I reckon it's just laziness and greed on the part of the developers.

sequels...remakes...face it guys, we're smokin the same junk over and over again just different vairations...until everyone stops lining up to see these damn things, they'll keep making them...

Wow, this sounds almost as bad as the DTV Gremlins 3 with CGI gremlins that they are making. These are supposed to be fan-ready? They really have no clue what we want do they?

this is a fuc*in disgrace, 'fan-ready' DVD really means "were trying to make money anyway possible by selling shitty sequel remakes" !!!!!!!!!

y waste money on making another one without any of the orign. stars staring in it? that was one of my favorite keaton movies besides multiplicity and white noise.....atleast they arent remaking it, but wait give that time give it five years and it will be remade since hollywood cant come up with any GOOD ideas they have to go and screw with the orginals.

well at first i was like "no fucking way without keaton!" but when you think about what heath ledger did to the joker maybe if the actor is good enough....you know?

I think the cartoons should get a run through if not a sequel. It should definately have Keaton to rep the beetle-eater. The first was a sick flick for sure.
