Yawn. Is anyone sick of these PR stunts yet? I know I am. Apparently the official website for Magnolia Pictures' Severance was too violent for the MPAA and some of the 'fun' was removed. What we're told it that someone saw it and complained about the severed head gushing blood. The site was changed until it meets guidelines, but if you want to see what caused all of the hoopla, read on. Severance hits limited theaters on May 18th.

Since when are the MPAA the internet police? Hey I know a website called BeastForum where you can watch a chick blow a dog, is the MPAA going to shut that down too? I think that is far more offensive than this. I agree if the viewer didn't get a warning about the graphic nature of the site that there is a problem, but why does the MPAA have the authority to shut down their site? That seems a little Nazi-ish in my opinion
The MPAA aren't acting as the internet police. All advertising, and yes a website is a movie advertisement, for a film has to go through the MPAA if they (the filmmakers) want to get a rating for the film. The same incident can be seen with the "Captivity" posters that were deemed inappropriate and forced down. While I don't agree with it, that's the way it'll be until the MPAA figures out it's 2007, not 1958.
