Just like when Rob tried to re-imagine the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and called it House of 1000 Corpses. Wasn't there a movie called House of Seven Corpses? Jesus, can't this asshole do anything ORIGINAL? Zombie obviously can't think for himself in terms of originality... First: If the fans absolutely have to see Michael Myers in action again, then the producers should’ve encouraged the writers and filmmakers to use some of that “creativity” and channel it into a new installment (really starting to hate the word sequel) placing Myers in a fresh, new situation. A re-imagining of a timeless classic is just pure Hollywood money in the bank bullshit, and they have trifled with an icon. Yes, Michael Myers has become an icon. And with Rob Zombie’s name attached to this, it’s sure to generate more than enough buzz to attract a favorable audience. Rob says he’s a fan (of the original) but he sure had a lot to say about test audience’s reactions to an intended ending for Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Check it out on H25 Twenty-Five-Years of Terror. Rob was bitching about a test audience’s reaction to Curse—a movie that originally deviated from the character from the beginning. So much in fact that they had to practically re-shoot the movie. It wasn’t the producer’s cut that was shown to test audiences; it just had a different ending than the one released theatrically (but here’s hoping for a DVD release of that infamous Producer’s Cut) But obviously—according to Zombie—the test audience didn’t know what they were talking about, so the filmmakers, once again, had to shoot yet another ending for a movie that was already doomed from the beginning. Second: If you were a fan of the original, wouldn’t you try to stay as close as possible to the main character? Sure you can add or subtract, which is what Zombie has done, but you really have to take into consideration just what your adding and taking away. So, Michael can’t drive now. It’s really no skin of my ass. But Rob’s reasoning is that it doesn’t seem likely that Myers would get lessons. Hello, Jackass, Dr. Loomis was being facetious. Couldn’t you hear the sarcasm in his tone? Of course Myers didn’t get lessons. He’s pure evil. Evil can drive. Evil can do whatever the hell it wants to. And does adult masked Michael speak or not? Who the hell knows, Scout-What-The-Hell-Ever sounded like she didn’t even know what was going on—like she hasn’t really been paying attention. Just read the interview. Also, she does give away some of what she thinks is going to be in the flick, which I’m sure has pissed Mr. Zombie-God right the hell off. But alas, the MPAA and the editing room decide what stays and what goes. I must admit, I’m just as hungry to see Myers in action as anyone, but to fuck it up just to re-fresh and re-imagine and re-tool is just plain re-tarded!
