Absolutely incredible movie! Totally badass, and one of the few movies in my lifetime that truly lived up to the promise of its ad campaign. Sadly, my fellow American moviegoers have chosen to throw their money away on the latest Will Ferrell garbage and the sequel(?) to ARE WE THERE YET?, leaving this amazing film twisting in the wind at the box-office. So while Ferrell can keep remaking ANCHORMAN in a different setting ad nauseum and former NWA gangsta Ice Cube's "family" film gets a sequel, GRINDHOUSE will be viewed as a failed experiment unlikely to spawn any follow-ups. It's times like these that make me question the intellect of the average moviegoer. From sea to shining sea you hear people complain about how they are sick of being fed the same old crap by Hollywood, yet they ignore truly imaginative works like GRINDHOUSE and continue to devour formulaic, idiotic dreck that is virtually indistinguishable from a thousand other films released in the last decade. At least we can take comfort in knowing that old school exploitation films will remain cool because mainstream audiences and the studio accountants that feed off of them still don't get it and never will.
