This morning Sony Screen Gems sent over not only the official synopsis to Prom Night - the remake of the classic '80 horror film by Paul Lynch that starred Jamie Lee Curits - but the full confirmed cast listing. The film is being shot by Nelson McCormick around the Los Angeles area for a February 1, 2008 release. Read on for the synopsis and cast listing and watch for more in the coming weeks.

Donna’s senior prom is supposed to be the best night of her life, one of magic, beauty, and love. Surrounded by her best friends, she should be safe from the horrors of her past. But when the night turns from magic to murder there is only one man who could be responsible…the man she thought was gone forever. Now, Donna and her friends must find a way to escape the sadistic rampage of an obsessed killer, and survive their Prom Night.

Prom Night is directed by Nelson McCormick (CSI, Prison Break) from a screenplay written by J.S. Cardone (The Covenant). The film stars BRITTANY SNOW (Hairspray, John Tucker Must Die), DANA DAVIS (Raise Your Voice, The Nine), JESSICA STROUP (The Hills Have Eyes II), SCOTT PORTER (Friday Night Lights), COLLINS PENNIE (Half Nelson), KELLY BLATZ (The Oakley Seven), IDRIS ELBA (The Wire) and JOHNATHON SCHAECH as “Richard Fenton.”

Original Films’ Neil Moritz (Click, I Know What You Did Last Summer) and Toby Jaffe (The Pink Panther, Amityville Horror) Produce. Glenn S. Gainor (Vacancy) and Marc Forby (Hostile Intent) Executive Produce.

I absolutely refuse to see this or buy into it. I'm absolutely SICKENED by all the remakes!! ENOUGH ALREADY!!! I swear, it the movie equivilent of hip hop stealing old songs to make new disposable "hits". And I didn't even like the original that much to begin with anyway! Are so many people in Hollywood out of ideas or what? Can't anyone come up with a new idea anymore? Sheesh......if you're gonna remake a film, at least make one from an obscure film ("Last House On Dead End Street" or "I Drink Your Blood" for examples) or just come up with, I don't know, a NEW idea????

But will it be Rated R or PG13? Either way, fuck remakes already. Wasn't Prom Night already remade in 97 with I Know What You Did Last Summer?

It sounds like it might be pretty interesting. Now that Halloween is being re-made, nothing surprises about re-makes anymore.

I'm not going to see this! It's not even a remake of Prom Night! It has only the 'killer on Prom Night' idea from the original, AND the plot is horrible. It will suck like 90% of remakes nowadays.
