Tuesday, March 20, 2007

Dimension Films's double-feature from directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, Grindhouse is headed to theaters April 6 and to celebrate we've been provided with five (5) bad ass one sheets for you lucky B-D readers. Read on to see how to enter to win one and don't forget that the trailer for Rob Zombie's Halloween plays before hand!

"Grind House" – noun – A downtown movie theater - in disrepair since its glory days as a movie palace of the '30s and '40s - known for "grinding out" non-stop double-bill programs of B-movies. From groundbreaking directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez comes the ultimate film experience: a double-bill of thrillers that will recall both filmmakers' favorite exploitation films. "Grind House" will be presented as one full-length feature comprised of two individual films helmed separately by each director. Tarantino's film, Death Proof, is a rip-roaring slasher flick where the killer pursues his victims with a car rather than a knife, while Rodriguez's film explores an alien world eerily familiar to ours in Planet Terror. Welcome to the grind house - it'll tear you in two.

Want to win one of the kick ass posters we're giving away? Then all you have to do is put GRINDHOUSE POSTER in the subject line and E-mail me the following information:
-Your full name
-Full address
-If you've ever been to a real Grindhouse
-Your own definition of a grindhouse

i have not been able to attend a grindhouse theatre or watch the exploitations that they lovingly chucked at you. my definition of a grindhouse theatre is nice and old looking , the movies that it pops out on the first night start at 1200 midnight. that would be sweet, double bill as well and the trailors to follow. i love it. i myself have a good collection of grindhouse flicks.-- street fighter, legend of the 7 golden vampires, fearless fighters, zombie 2 the zombie flesh eaters, barbed wire caged women, last house on the left, basket case, wizard of gore, and the list goes on . cant wait for this movies to come out. Tarantino and Rodriguez rock the house, i have been checkin this out for almost a year now, my anticipation is at a high, thanks.

I grew up in Dallas, TX and spent my teen years in the 80's. THE place to see the best that grindhouses offered was at one place in particular called the Bruton Terrace IV. This place was incredible becasue not only did I get to see my all-time favorite movies there, I got to see them in double feature format & it was ALWAYS a haggard experience if you expected certain things like cleanliness or order. It was already falling apart & always was full of characters of ill repute, all there for the same reason I was....to catch the lastest crazy-ass collection of horror films we all loved from that period! It was the place I first go to see Cannibal Ferox (actually played at the Bruton as "Make Them Die Slowly") and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" in an awesome double feature!! "Pieces", "Evil Dead", and even. no shit, "Cannibal Holocaust" all played there! That's where I got to first catch them & they were THE thing a lonely 14 year old kid needed to feel like life was livable! It's long closed down now, but I'll always remember it as MY grindhouse. And best of all, they NEVER carded me or gave me any shit. Pay your money & see the carnage......and boy, did I!!!! I wish more "Mom & Pop" theaters would open just to bring it back. Might be a way to help indy filmmakers make a little more scratch, since the nultiplexes wanna go "gestapo" on expression & opportunities. Also, maybe it's time for the drive-in to truly come back. Just a thought. I cannot wait for this flick to come out!! (...gives you the metalhorns....)
