Actually, I feel sorry for you Superfry. Your contributions to the site today have been nothing short of pathetic. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head to appear in the film; I'm sure they are quite happy to be there, with someone who apparently appreciates their previous body of work. In fact, judging by the picture, they want no part in this at all...it's a good thing someone like you is here to rescue what's left of their dignity. I'm sorry Fry, but today you have been a douche. You are quick to label any opinon other than your own as useless garbage while the bullshit complaints you spew are supposed gospel for all on the site. News Flash: Some of us like what we have seen so far, and none of your whining is gonna change that. If you feel so strongly the movie will suck before seeing one second of it, well, that's your take on it bro. BTW I'm sure the actors would appreciate the actors would appreciate the "well i guess they gotta eat" comment. As they are total failures in show business, I suppose taking a bit part in a crappy movie with a director they have no respect for is virtually their only avenue of income....

Tis' the young Loomis here, although I didn't know a patchy beard and a bad hairstyle was supposed to translate to younger lol. And I agree that Sheri is smoking, but not so much in this pic in which she just looks like she needs another line. But, when you consider the fact she is playing a used up stripper mom, perhaps this is a good thing. Also, please disregard the typos below....it's late, I'm drunk, and this site doesn't allow you to edit so it is what it is. G'nite folks!

Let me tell you a little something,LongJohn:McDowell/Island of the Dead,Dourif/Spontaneous Combustion,Lynch/Alligator 2,Barbeau/Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death. And much, much more.Believe me these guys are no strangers to taking crap jobs to pay the bills.I'm sure zombie being the director of such cinematic "gems"like the DEVILS REJECTS AND HO1KC means a lot to guys who have been in movies directed by the likes of Stanley Kubrick and Milos Forman.

Can these guys be acting for the sake of acting? I understand that they have a lifestyle to support - but could they just be doing it because they like to keep busy? Look at Walken - he's said as much, he has to keep busy - and he loves to act. Some of these guys probably don't need the money - but might like to keep there face in the public mind. There always a chance the role will be noticed - hell - look at Jackie Earle Haley. Looks like RZ injected some good white trash DNA into SMZ!

Once again Fry, your blind hatred of Zombie clouds your vision. We know what you think of him, and that's fine and dandy. But think about this: this is going to be one of the bigger movies of the summer, and if this goes down right some of the actors will be introduced to a new generation, one which perhaps (sadly) is not aware of a Clockwork Orange or One Flew....How this is a bad thing for them is beyond me, unless it sucks balls. To me that remains to be seen; to you this is a foregone conclusion. So let the old folks have their fun. To me it's not much different from QT picking his favorite character actors and giving them a chance to say "Hey! I'm not dead, and I'm still cool!". I have high hopes for McDowell. If this hits, just a couple of months after he's done kicking ass on Heroes, it could mean we see alot more of the guy in the near future. As a fan, that's cool with me. Later.

Wait A SEC!!!!!!! I thought I had my gut buster of the day, but I gotta respond to this (and it's not even my fight, so to speak.....) Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Shrek 3, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, The Bourne Ultimatum, Ocean's 13, Grindhouse, Meet the Robinsons, Hostel 2, Live Free or Die Hard, Transformers, Harry Potter 5, Rush Hour 3, The Invasion, The Simpsons.....It's gonna be really hard to convince me that ROB Zombie's Halloween (makes me wanna puke just writing it) is gonna be one of the bigger movies of the summer when compared to ANY of the movies on that list. ROB will not even touch a one of those movies in terms of box office, so I think we can effectively drop the whole "one of the bigger movies of the summer" rhetoric. ROB probably won't even touch 85% of those in terms of critical acceptance (remember critics LOVE Carpenter's masterpiece and are probably, not certainly, but probably gonna shred a half-assed "reimagining" by a part-time filmaker) So if it doesn't achieve the same financial accumen and it doesn't get the necessary critical praise that everyone seems so convinced ROB will return to the franchise, then what "success" has it achieved. There's a reason that companies release movies on August 31 and it's not to steal blockbuster thunder. BTW Jackie Earl Halie's comeback has been nothing short of miraculous, and if anyone had botherred to check he apparently was taking roles to eat.....

There's a huuuuuuge quality gap between rob zombie and Quentin Tarantino.Who the hell is zombie to revive ANYONES career? Are you suggesting that McDowell needs zombies charity to prove "Hey,I'm not dead!"?zombie's "name" only means something to the childish, apologist zombie fans and zombie himself. If he himself thinks he is in ANY position to pull a "Tarantino"on anyones career it only shows that his enormous ego is writing checks that his meager talents can't cash. And if you actually believe it yourself then it only proves how delusional YOU are.I'm sure mr.cummings would be honored that SOMEONE at least mentioned him in the same breath as Tarantino though. After all it's obvious by his imitative dialogue, casting choices and name dropping that he is who he's trying to pattern his career off of anyway.

Calm down, Fry and let's talk facts. Although there are actors in this movie who have participated in some great films with some directors which are obviously superior to Zombie, none of them are on the Hollywood radar at this point. You could make a case that modern audiences should know Dourif above any of the others due to LOTR, but i guarantee you 9 out of 10 people have no clue who he is. I hate to break it to you Fly, but this is gonna be the biggest horror movie in a while and all parties invovled are going to get much more attention and publicity than they could have dreamed of recently...if the movie is even moderately well accepted their carrers do nothing but benefit from this. And I'm not suggesting the actors go to My Space and lather RZ's nuts up, but I don't see anyone else casting them in a remake of a horror classic that more than a few people are excited or horrified to see. After August, McDowell is Loomis, Scout is Laurie, and Mane is Myers to a whole new generation. Forever, for better or worse. It has nothing to do with Zombie, it has to do with the power of the characters. Obviously, as stated, this depends partially on the quality of the movie, but also the reaction of the nationwide audience. As evidenced by the recent debut of "Wild Hogs" at # 1, a movie doesn't have to be Citizen Kane for America to embrace it, and if they like it there will be nothing but positives for all involved : Dimension, Zombie, the actors etc.

Sorry Sauron, I meant to say biggest horror movie of the summer, as there are apparently a few sequels on the horizon. Besides Halloween I'm not a huge horror fan, but I do know they don't start cranking out sequels unless they expect them to fill some seats, and I think Halloween is going to crush them all except perhaps Saw which has a pretty large audience at this point. No, this isn't gonna make a billion dollars but it is not designed a tentpole movie, or a blockbuster. It didn't cost much to make in comparison to most of the films you named, so if it does Scream type money at the box office, get ready for Halloween II no matter how bad this one is, or how it ends.

LongJohnny99,I appreciate the semi-civility of you last post, with the minor exception to your need to tell me to "calm down"and saying"hate to break it to ya"as if you're telling me something.Believe me,I'm about as calm as a guy can be.I read the posts of these people who seem to appear only to tell me to "shut up" without actually having anything to say,and I laugh my head off.People call ME a crybaby, yet how many posts have simply been the vacuous, ranting retorts to my opposing opinion and not an opinion itself. If you don't like what I have to say then you DO have the choices to ignore me,or respond with tact.Respond with tact and I will do so in kind. Now,regarding your post:Where did you get the idea that I don't think the actors will benefit from this? They're getting paid aren't they?If they simply wanted to act for actings sake they could go do Shakespeare in the park or community theater. No,they want paid because they too are people and have bills to pay.Is it so wrong to acknowledge that?Sure, they get exposure, but that doesn't pay the bills.Again, the idea that zombie is in any kind of position careerwise to pull a "Tarantino" is ridiculous.Whether this movie is a financial hit or flop the bottom line is that this movie is simply another in a flood of remakes, and a horror movie to boot. And I think we can all agree that horror as a genre doesn't get the props it deserves. To think this movie will break any new ground for the actors ala Tarantino/Travolta is both preposterous and pompous.

Oh, Fry, if you could see my face whilst we banter you would know how harmless I am. Always smiling, although my humor sometimes fails to translate in this venue. Not to mention the fact that my brain boils over, resulting in page long diatribes that make me seem a little more aggressive than intended. Oh well, I'll get the hang of it. In regards to previous posts, I was refering more to a Kill Bill situation here. No one is really in position to make a Travolta turn here, because no one except for McDowell is going to get any extended screen time to work with from what we know about the length of the remake portion. But there seems to be ample opportunity for the character cameos which made Kill Bill shine. I think when it comes to respect and well wishing for the actors, we are coming from the same place. It's the fact that we have (at this time) polar opposite views on what information we are privy to, and that considered you can see why you feel "sorry" for them having to appear in such a disaster, and I think they should feel lucky to be involved in the whole thing. If I was convinced the movie was going to suck donkey balls I'd be saying much the same as you. Peace, dude.

Now, as to your second attempt to add anything of value to the human race: Consider this: Resurrection 30mil, H6 15 mil, H5 11mil, H4 17 mil, HOATC 12.6 mil, Rejects 17 mil. But wait it gets better, Hostel, in case you forgot to do your research made 48 mil domestically (80 worldwide) so I hardly see how ROB Zombie or the recent Halloween sequels have come close to this but in your mind it's gonna be a bigger success based on all of your deep thoughts. LongJohnny99: Thx for the civility. Wild Hogs made its cash based on multiple star power turns. RZ's Halloween doesn't get that trump card however. However, McDowell has done his fair share of absolute unadulterated crap. His star is not enough to draw huge box office success. I like McDowell, Harris, and Dourif but they don't really translate to anything financially. Word-of-mouth, critical response, media interpretation are all gonna decide how this plays out

Oh, I totally agree that this movie isn't going to be sold to the public on the basis of who is in it. The majority of the people who give a shit about the cast now are on here with us. You said it pretty well in the comments about the official name: there is no documented reason to believe this will open well, or make a lot of cash. The Halloween films have been successful mainly in making a good profit in terms of budget, not raking in blockbuster money. And if RZ does have an army of fans, they sure as fuck didn't show up to support Devil's Rejects. History supports your stance here. That said, I really believe with the proper marketing they can really hit it big with this. They already have the majority of the nostalgia crowd, most of whom will see it for various reasons. If they can get the kids, it will be big. I was in high school when the first Scream movie hit, and the word of mouth on that was like wildfire. An awesome trailer would go a long way, and honestly I think one of the more powerful tools at hand is the music. It's really creepy, and it gets your attention. Reviews can be a factor, especially if it gets panned across the board, but if you get people interested beforehand it tends not to matter consistently. Look at 300, or the recent Star Wars flicks, two totally different examples. I'm not saying every review was negative on these, but there was more bad than good in my readings. Now the last time that Dimension really pushed Halloween, imo, was H20, and it managed 55 million despite being pretty mediocre. I just feel like this has more potential than that. Time will tell.

Thx for the civility again (sips tea and crumpets) I would absolutely agree that the marketing (hence all the oh-so-hip) myspace crowd attempting to lend modern street cred to a 51 year old washed up "musician." And it is my one worry. As much as I absolutely loath all things ROB, I would admit that the marketing schematic is laid for potential success based on the flood of publicity. Where this scenario is truly terrifying is if (when?) he absolutely train wrecks the Halloween we've come to know and love with his sapphic sheep-love of a script but manages to create a generation of blind fiftenn year old fanboys desperate to be included in all things ROB who try to pawn this off as the greatest manifestation of horror since the Universal monsters of years past. I would argue that while we have the original it will leave quite a piss-poor taste in everyone's mouths if ROB follows suit from his previous movies but calls it Halloween, using our favorite characters, settings, and story. Once it's released, it's art of the Halloween fgranchise. There is no way to excise or separate it from the story, much the same as there is no way to erase Busta Rhymes from the Halloween canon. So to sit back and say "hey if it sucks we'll always have the original" really is a moot, counterproductive position. Now we'll forever have a hack's half a@s vision tainting what we've come to know and love.....

Sauron, while I'm planted firmly on your side on the fence about the remake, I'd just like to address this comment: "Once it's released, it's part of the Halloween franchise. There is no way to excise or separate it from the story". I think I'd have to disagree with that, because this new 'Halloween' isn't part of the original 'Halloween' story; no more so than any retelling of the 'Dracula' or 'Frankenstein' stories are a part of the stories Universal told in the 1930s/40s. The 'Dracula' and 'Frankenstein' stories have been retold a number of times by various directors and studios, and the same is beginning to happen with 'Halloween'. 'Our' version of 'Halloween' is over and done with, and it's being reinvented, just like Hammer reinvented Dracula etc., decades after Universal scared people senseless. As a big fan of 'Halloween', I'm sad that the 'Universal' Myers is now over and done with and he's being created anew for the 'Hammer' generation (if you see what I mean).

I agree with MMO here, and imo the restart should have been attempted sooner. I just think the first one was so good it made you want more, no matter what the drop in quality. The second movie was inevitable, given the $$$ made, and the ending. The third never happened, ok? Can we go with that? The fourth and fifth were basically rehashes of 1 & 2, with some extra crap thrown in to confuse the issue, such as Jamie killing her stepmom and the Man With Stupid Boots. Jamie is stalked and confronted in the first, and then they finish up in the second. This is where things get really bad either way you cut it. Number Six...wow. I never saw the "Producer's Cut" of this film till a few months ago, so all I had was the theatrical release to go on. After the end of 5, you could go one of two ways...that way or the highway. Both went with the Man in Stupid Boots. In all it is a bad to mediocre film, either way. I enjoyed the theater version more, but the producer's cut made more sense overall, and didn't leave me wondering where the hell the ninjas came from. Trust me, you wouldn't know they were cultists if you saw this in the theater, lol. But the PC also brought us scenes of incest, high collars and Paul Rudd runepower....that's alot to overcome, especially in the space of twenty minutes. Honestly, I still get a little lost trying to figure out the Thorn backstory, but I never found it very compelling so maybe it's just my lack of effort. H20 - magically, no mention of 6...strange. Not a bad flick, and a vast improvement over 6. If nothing else you get to wonder who the fuck combed Hartnett's hair for a couple hours. And 8..it's all been said before, but Busta Rhymes actually busts Michael's ass in this, without a rune in sight...nuff said. I'm not saying Zombie was the best candidate to do it, but a new start was needed to put Myers back on the map, and at least someone finally realized this. If they were going to stop making the movies, I'd be fine with that. But if they are gonna keep going I'd rather start with a new take then another terrible sequel mired in a confused continuity. It may not turn out any better, but at least it's a possibility.

The Producer's cut wasn't the original intention of the original writer and director. He has mentioned that numerous endings (all which sound better than the theatrical and the PC) were written but overruled. The Producer's Cut is far superior in my opinion with atmosphere and music. It is far darker and creepier than the edits that were made by Chappelle (no exploding transformer head, for example) Where the PC lost it's nut was in the final act. Every scene after Loomis is knocked out just blows on an exponential magnitude. The whole Cult of Smith's Grove could not be hashed out, no matter how much time and thought was placed. I think overall the PC is better (scarier) but ultimately neither version was able to do much for the series. H20 had far superior writing and acting but there was WAY WAY too much Jamie Lee and nowhere near enough Myers. To top it off they made him out to be a colossial p%$sy swinging from the cafeteria rafters, begging for mercy (no matter how they tried to explain that in H8). Busta Rhymes, Tyra Banks, Katee Sackoff et al needs no further analysis than has already been offerred here.....

For real. Both versions of 6 lost it after The Man With Stupid Boots reveals himself, but the strength of the PC is that, no matter how unbelievable it gets, I kind of felt like I could follow the story. Both through additional scenes with Boots (I can't remember his name for the life of me lol)& Loomis, and Tommy, respectively, it all seemed to tie together a bit better. That said I really prefer some of the theatre scenes, no matter how confusing. Jamie's death scene rules, as does Tommy's confrontation with Myers in the catacombs (NOT the one in the lab...good god). I also enjoyed the scene where Michael slaughters the surgical crew, even though I'd be hard pressed to tell you why he'd suddenly go apeshit on his handlers like that. And was I the only one who thought those dudes were ninjas? I may have missed first five minutes in the theater which would've cleared it up a bit, but at this point I don't remember the difference in the two beginnings. Were the cult mentioned at all in the theatrical version, or was the Loomis knockout scene the first we saw of them? Can't remember...

PROFILE - MESSAGE - REPORT

6 is without a doubt the most interesting of the sequels, also because of its alternate version. In it, Michael is commanded by the Cult of Thorn to rape Jamie thus conceiving baby "Steven". If that doesn't take away from the character, I don't know what does. But it really doesn't matter, according to H20, there never was a Jamie Llyod and there never was a baby steven anyway. Now those charcters are for surly lost in any future Shape outings. So I guess you have to start fesh. But why a remake? Why not just do what H20 and Ressurrection did by disregarding the previous sequels after 2...why not make a new film (not a remake) that disregards H20 and Ressurection? Especially Ressurection for shit sakes...
