Grindhouse Faux Trailer To Become Direct-to-Video Feature?

I'm pretty sure Robert Rodriguez already revealed this news at the San Diego Comicon this past summer, but either way here it is again. This morning an online mag reported from the SXSW film festival where Tarantino and Rodriguez revealed that a sequel is already being planned for Grindhouse, which hits theaters April 6. Read on for details.

“Planet Terror” director Robert Rodriguez revealed that he’s already planning a direct-to-video sequel to the film that would be based on the character of ‘Machete’ (played by Danny Trejo), who appears in one of the faux trailer between both films.

If you’ve seen any of the kickass trailers for Grindhouse, then you’ve seen Trejo as Machete, a bad ass dude with, well, two machetes,” says Cinemablend. “He is doing a Machete spin-off movie, and it’s likely going to be direct to DVD. Rodriguez seemed pretty adamant about this, as if the film is already a done deal.

"Grind House" – noun – A downtown movie theater - in disrepair since its glory days as a movie palace of the '30s and '40s - known for "grinding out" non-stop double-bill programs of B-movies. From groundbreaking directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez comes the ultimate film experience: a double-bill of thrillers that will recall both filmmakers' favorite exploitation films. "Grind House" will be presented as one full-length feature comprised of two individual films helmed separately by each director. Tarantino's film, Death Proof, is a rip-roaring slasher flick where the killer pursues his victims with a car rather than a knife, while Rodriguez's film explores an alien world eerily familiar to ours in Planet Terror. Welcome to the grind house - it'll tear you in two.

I wish the film would do good and they're would be demand for a sequel, not so much 'Planet Terror or Death Proof 2', but using the same trailers they played during this one. IE: Make Machete and have another director of the faux trailer make his into a full film and put them together keeping with the double bill films. Then start the cycle over again with new trailers. If they are gonna make a sequel I want it to be another 'grindhouse' two films thing. I know its probably not gonna happen since most of the trailer directors did it for fun but I think it would be a good idea. An release in a theater, there is nothing like that theater expierance.

I'd say for both Tarantino and Rodriguez to allow Rob Zombie to make "Werewolf Women Of The SS" as the next full length "Grindhouse" movie to be theatrically released(considering all of the massive excitement and high fan anticipation that this faux trailer already has gained and received). Otherwise, that planned DTV "Machete" adventure sounds like a sequel to "(They Call Hm)Machete",the latter title which I'm sure is(or,already has been)planned as the next theatrical "Grindhouse" release(alongside "Werwolf Women....").
