Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' Scores! Really It Will...
Friday, March 9, 2007

By: MrDisgusting
Comments

Clarification time as MTV has made a minor snafu in their report from the set of Rob Zombie's Halloween, which was posted here the other day. Zombie had made a comment about how he was trying to rework the score (listen here) and then shelved it, MTV reported it as Zombie had shelved Carpenter's original theme. The fact of the matter is Zombie was saying he wasn't going to use the reworked theme that he had been devloping. It's amazing how such a small misinterpretation can cause so many problems. Michael Myers is coming, and his theme will be rocking right behind him. Now when the hell do I get my own theme song?!

Great news, I was really worried there for a few days. As I stated, a Halloween movie isn't a Halloween movie without the theme music.

BS Flag.... To think Zombie is not monitoring the fan response is ludacris. There was an outcry - now he is backstepping. Otherwise - he would have corrected it immediately.

Great news. The theme is classic. Who cares why. I guess it just makes an argument to say he did because of backlash. MAYBE it really was an error on MTV's part and he intended all along to use the theme. Either way, he will get bashed now BECAUSE he's using it.

Mr. D, don't get me wrong, your coverage of this film is appreciated... But dude, i think your in love with this movie whether or not it's going to be worthy of it's predecessor. We have every right to be critical of this movie... Without John Carpentor's film I wouldn't be where I am today and that goes for alot of us. I just hope that when you give us your review come August your honest and give us your real opinion. - Not that you wouldn't... though I do hold you responsible for causing me to buy "Kwoon"... jesus man, you gave it 5 skulls!!

Not surprised at all.Every time zombie opens his stupid mouth he either denies it or says it was "misinterpreted/misunderstood" later.Sure didn't take Dimension long to send him a memo to put the theme in,did it.Welcome to the big leagues mr.cummings.Your 2 commercial failure/cult hit don't mean shit to them except for your name value, which after this, won't mean shit to anyone else but your brown-nosed fans, either.

What the f-ck is with some of you people not listening words that come out of people's mouths? Seriously. READ WHAT I AM WRITING and then see the movie on your own agenda. If you like it, great! If you dont, great! My jobs to inform not constantly pitch a movie as awesome if I havent even seen it yet. Sheesh.

Mr. D , you are absolutley right. I don't know how you continue to let some people on this message board. You have a high tolerance. It's ok to be critical and dislike this remake, but quit with the false accusations and the "I told you so" B.S. Support your claims with actual facts. Some people here think they know everything about this movie. No, you don't. You know why? Because it's NOT OUT YET. The other problem is, I think most of us who want to see this movie will fess up and say it suck's it it indeed does. I doubt alot of the haters would actaully admit it's good. The mind's all made up no matter what, that's pretty sad.

I'm willing to bet if I saw Kwoon now it wouldnt even get an 8. My tastes have changed quite a bit. I still love it, but can see how people would hate it. I wish I knew what movies you like Mr. Bob so I could find one and say "are you freaking crazy?" Then you'd say "it rules!" and I'd say "No, it doesn't." But it really wouldnt matter would it, because in the end your opinion is the only one that counts. Congrats on your success in being right all the time. Wish I could be you.

Johnny is the peace still there my friend????? I want to make sure we are still fighting the good fight. Not once did Sauron refer to the theme in his latest salient attacks on all things ROB (referring to one's self in the third person is NEVER a good sign.....) But seriously, Mr. D has been quite tolerant of ALL of us. If he had gone about banning anything construed as negative these boards would be nowhere near as entertaining. For that, I thank him.....This latest round does raise a lot of OTHER red flags. The theme, for what it is, was a small point. With the exception of Halloween 4, it has pretty much gone by the wayside in the later sequels (the flute orchestration in the intro to H20 was God awful). Alan Howarth was known to darken up elements of the original sountrack that digressed from Carpenter's music but still maintained a pretty good horror atmosphere. Some of us 'haters' are definately upset that this whole thing is going forward in this manner, but I have, in all fairness, been fair about certain news developments that looked good. Still, you know my opinion on this and ROB's creative vision. Definately worried about the whole empty pool thing.....

SAURON. Were all good.If you read my posts over the last few topics, I"ve gone out of my way to compliment your opinions. As I've said, we don't always see eye to eye, but I respect your opinions and even share some of your concerns. I can tell you know your horror flicks, as do I. There are some though that really put the ol foot in the mouth. And I do mean some of the RZ fan's as well. Back to the topic, I am glad to have the theme in this movie. Other than JAWS, and maybe The Exorcist, it's the most identifiable music in Horror. I hope I lightened up a bit BOB.

I don't really care how the theme came to be in this movie, as long as it is in. Wouldn't it funny if Zombie is reading the message boards in the little off time he has and then changing things accordingly. I doubt it (does not seem logical), but it would be laughable if that were the case. Just in case...WHAT'S UP WITH THE EMPTY POOL, ROB?

Just because I don't share your viewpoint does not mean I should be banned from a site. It's fanboy cretins like you - with your 'super cool secret club' attitude towards outsiders that not only stifles opposing views - you think you have the cred to get other people banned. All I do is keep blind fanboys in check - let them know that just because this guys sings super scary monster songs - does not mean he's impervious to poor decision making. He's creating a legacy of it.

Look RAMONE, let's get one thing straight, YOU insulted me first without provocation. I never once have said I think I'm right or expect everyone to share my views. My words are MY opinion, and mine only. You can be as critical as you want, I don't care. Say what you want, just don't start insulting people because they don't share YOUR view. That's how this started, GO BACK and read your own words. If your going to continue to do that, YES I think you or anyone else should get the boot from the site. Your so called "keeping fanboys in check ", is stupid and insulting. I am not an RZ fanboy. SO because I like the theme music, the actors, the way Michael,Loomis and the girls look, and SOME not all of the script ideas, you automatically brand me. As I said before, think about what your saying before you start calling people out and PLEASE, get the facts first.

Very good point there W.D., I had read that interview over at AICN and when the story broke on Zombie's comments I thought he made an 11th hour change. Zombie isn't pandering as many here are trying to make it out to. He was simply misquoted. It would be one thing to just have the Zombie interview but to have that piece posted at AICN from the person doing the score and saying the theme was crucial, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Zombie was simply misquoted. But I am sure those that want to hate everything about this will read into it whatever they want. I remain cautiously optimistic, I don't like the story elements that have come out so far, but I will just sit back and wait and see, hoping it does turn out to be a good flick.

So Rob Zombie has taken Michael Myers and re-shaped (pun intended) the shape. The series was getting more than just a little stale, but to give Myers a complete overhaul i.e. emoptional side and sexual preference (kid mikey mastubating to photos of animals he's killed) WTF? Yes, I have MANY complaints and it is a long laundry list, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't gonna see this in theaters and most if not all other fans would be too. Rob professes to be a fan of Carpenter's original classic, yet, he has perverted Michael's core. Michael is or was the boogieman. According to Zombie's vision, Michael is just going to be some huge asshole with an even bigger inferority comlex and a mask. Oh well...At least most of the cast members are kick ass horror veterens...but I wonder, how many damn and needless people can this guy cram into one Halloween flick? Apparently, as many as he wants.

While others loved the original Carpenter classic, some hated it...believe it or not. The same will be said for Rob Zombie's vision. As I've said before, I applaud Rob's attempt at breathing new life into the legend of Michael Myers, but giving us a reason for his mayhem takes away from the magic...and thanks CJ.

Good news to my ears. The theme is classic, and although I can deal with some of Zombie's music I'd rather him look elsewhere for something else to tinker with. The score & audio cues can go a long way in a Halloween flick, so hopefully they don't get abandoned entirely or mangled beyond recognition.

I will reserve judgement of Rob Zombie's Halloween until the credits roll in August. THen and only then will anyone truly be able to tell whether or not they liked it. But I think it would've been easier on the stomachs of most hardcore fans had he taken a fresh approach on another sequel or installment...but to make a revision that's part prequel and part remake...that'll raise some eyebrows for sure. Either way, can't wait for it to hit theaters. Pissed or not, the fans will see it.
