Angel Baby Entertainment and Maverick Films genre division Maverick Red, in association with the Slamdance Film Festival, will produce Bobby Darby and Nathan Brookes' Slaughter, winner of the 2007 Slamdance Horror Screenplay Competition, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Slaughter," an homage to Japanese cult horror films, will be the first produced script for UK-based writing partners Darby and Brookes. It also marks Slamdance's first foray into film production. "This industry is highly competitive, and it's necessary for our organization to seek new production avenues for aspiring writers," said co-founder and president Peter Baxter. Angel Baby partners Gregory Segal and John Andrew Gallagher will produce the project with Maverick Red's Mark Morgan and Guy Oseary. Maverick Red's Cheri Wozniak and Michael Malagiero will executive produce.
