Our Telekinetic Powers Tell Us Who's Directing 'Scanners'

Busy Bousman, that's what we like to call him - this evening Bloody-Disgusting received a tip (now confirmed by Variety) that writer/director Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III) is once again in heavy negotiations to helm a remake of David Cronenberg's classic sci-fi/horror film Scanners. David Goyer will pen the screenplay. Before Bousman can begin work on Scanners, he already has Saw IV and Repo! The Genetic Opera lined up for Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures. The title of the film refers to a group of people who have telekinetic powers that allow them to read minds and give them the ability to make other people's heads explode. The children of a group of women who took an experimental tranquilizer during their pregnancies, the scanners are now adults and have become outcasts from society.

Too much work will, well... see for yourself

I wonder when the remake of 'Videodrome' is going to happen, then? This is getting to the point where I'm expecting the announcements of remakes to films that haven't been made the first time round...

So telekinesis enables you to foresee things? I thought it enabled you to move things

Why the hell does this guy keep getting major movie deals? Did anyone actually watch the Saw movies? They are flat-out terrible...back-of-the-short-bus-pissed-pants-choking-on-dr ool-mysterious-white -shirt-stains retarded. "Scanners" is one of the few recent re-make announcements that could actually be pretty cool and this hack is supposed to direct it. Crap.

I think re-makes (if they are good and bring something new to the table) are extremely cool. You have to remember that the new generations of horror fanatics are, well, just that, a new generation raised on new generation horrors. Naturally if you're a horror fanatic you're destined to at some point atleast watch old horror flicks and either like them or not. Whichever, like them or not, you're bound to be curious to what a re-make of an old horror movie will look like and if it didnt satisfy you the first time, maybe it will this time. Personally, I cant wait for this to be made:D
