First he kicked some cult chicks asses in Wicker Man, then he transformed into Ghost Rider, now Nicolas Cage is vying for the part of The Fly in a planned remake of David Cronenberg's 1986 cult classic, according to the director himself. Cronenberg, who is working on an operatic version of the creepy man-insect story, will not be involved in the remake, but he has been kept abreast of developments. He tells E! "From what I hear, Nic Cage wants the part." Thanks to PR-Inside for the news! In Cronenberg's film, a scientist who becomes half human and half fly slowly transforms more into fly than man.
Instead of getting trapped in the pod with a fly, Nicholas Cage should end up merging with a bee, then he'd be able to scream "No, not the bee! Not the bee!" at himself.
A Mexican? Heh, I can just see Brundle's face when he realises that he went through the transporters while having accidentally left a sombrero inside one of them. (I make no apologies for stereotyping, after all that's what stereotyping is for :p)
I sort of like urgey's idea only they should come to Texas and turn illegal mexican's into flies. Oh and Dicolas Cage gets hit by a bus and is drug for hundreds of feet dying a horrible death in the process.
