This past weekend B-D reporter Brian Collins caught up with Zodiac star Chloe Sevigny who chatted a bit about Douglas Bucks' remake of Brian De Palma’s classic Sisters, which is looking for a release later this year. Read on for the skinny and check out Zodiac in theaters March 2.
During the Zodiac junket, star Chloe Sevigny talked a bit about her role in the upcoming remake of Brian De Palma’s classic Sisters:
“The remake was produced by Ed Pressman, who produced the original, and we have the original score. It stars myself and Lou Doillon, who is the daughter of Jane Birkin, she plays the Margot Kidder part. Stephen Rea plays the mad scientist part, and I’m the journalist (Grace). It’s pretty true to the original actually. I haven’t seen the final product yet but I heard it looks like it was made in the 70s, and that fans of horror will really like it. The director, Douglas Buck, directed 3 shorts called The Family Portraits and those were TERRIFYING, so I think it’s gonna be pretty good. And it’s pretty violent, unfortunately it was shot on kind of a shoestring budget and some of the special effects didn’t turn out as great as Douglas had hoped they would be, but we’ll see.”
Grace, a young journalist, investigates a well-known, controversial psychiatrist. The investigation reveals the disturbing relationship he maintains with Angelique, one of his patients. After witnessing a brutal crime, and with the unintentional help of angelique's new love interest Doctor Dylan Wallace, Grace finds herself immersed in a spiral of violence and terrible revelations that wind up endangering her physical and mental integrity. After his devastating Family portraits: A Trilogy of America, presented at Sitges’04, Douglas Buck returns to the bullring with the intelligent update of one of the masterpieces from that great magician of the silver screen named Brian de Palma. And without split-screen (or almost).
