Horror in Your House – February 13, 2007
By: Tex Massacre

Bit Parts: Cinema Epoch

Needing to replace the mangled features of his daughter Maggie, deranged plastic surgeon Dr. Cranston places ads in L.A. papers looking for actresses with "perfect" noses, eyes, breasts, etc. for an alleged film audition.

Director Dave Reda’s debut film is essentially an update of Georges Franju’s classic 1960 French thriller EYES WITHOUT A FACE.

Bug Buster: Anchor Bay

A small lakeside resort community is beset by roaches. Big killer roaches that reproduce in dark moist places, and can grow to 10 feet long. The locals eventually call in an over-the-top bug exterminator to relieve themselves of their problem.

Randy Quaid, Katherine Heigl, James Doohan, George Takei and “Downtown” Julie Brown star in this cheesy classic from 1998

Devil’s Den: Starz Home Entertainment

Two small time drug-dealers cross paths with a female-assassin, a monster hunter, a Japanese swordsman and even the Devil himself at a strip club housing murderous she-demons.

Genre vet Ken Foree, leads Devon Sawa and Kelly Hu through this clear rip-off of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. The film’s good for a few laughs and some bright banter.

Doll From Hell: Tokyo Shock/Media Blasters

A doll maker and his daughter Erika live in a remote mountain villa. When some thugs break in and murder Erika and disfigure the old doll maker, he sets about getting his revenge.

Scary doll movies have always freaked me out (well, except for CHUCKY and the PUPPET MASTER films), Still, the hair on my arms is already on end for this 1996 Japanese shocker.

Evil Animals Triple Feature (Day of the Animals, Grizzly, Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell): Shriek Show/Media Blasters

The depletion of the earth's ozone layer causes animals above the altitude of 5000 feet to run amok in the DAY OF THE ANIMALS. An eighteen-foot, two thousand pound GRIZZLY bear terrorizes campers and hikers at a state park. While the DEVIL DOG pits a relatively normal suburban family against an enslaving demonically possessed German shepherd.

It’s an attack of 1970’s creature features in this 3 pack from the crew at Shriek Show.

Masters of Horror – Pelts: Anchor Bay (TEX’S PICK OF THE WEEK)

An erotic tale about stolen raccoon pelts that violently turn against those that covet them.

Director Dario Argento’s second contribution to the Masters of Horror cannon stars Meat Loaf as an unlucky coat maker whose lust for women almost exceeds his lust for furs.
