Gold Circle Films has acquired John Travis' horror thriller spec script The New Daughter, based on a John Connolly short story, according to Variety. Gold Circle will fully finance the project, adapted from Connolly's recent collection, "Nocturnes." Script concerns a single father who moves his two children to a home in rural Illinois near a burial mound that may be the key to his daughter's increasingly ominous behavior. Gold Circle topper Paul Brooks will produce, with the shingle's Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt exec producing. Gary Oldman recently optioned Travis' supernatural thriller Redwood as a vehicle to produce and star in. Connolly's novel "Bad Men" is being adapted by Stephen Susco and Sobini Films into pic project Sanctuary.
