Bloody-Disgusting learned exclusively today that David Anders ("Heroes", Left in Darkness) and Kandyse McClure ("Battlestar Galactica", "Reaper") are the first to be cast in Anchor Bay and Starz Entertainment's made-for-TV remake of Children of the Corn, which will have it's premiere on the Sci-Fi Channel next year. A film that I had been tinkering with covering here on Bloody-Disgusting is Henry Selick's (The Nightmare Before Christmas) latest stop-motion animated movie (in 3-D!), Coraline, which is based on a series by Neil Gaiman. With every story we miss, I get more and more e-mails asking me why I refuse to cover it. Until today I thought I was just going to pass on it, but after watching Rotten Tomatoes' fifth exclusive behind-the-scenes video it seems apparent I should be all over this film. In the video found inside, Selick explains that CORALINE is "Scary and spooky and filled with creepy-crawler things..." We learned this morning that After Dark Films' Perkins' 14 is currently in post productionin NYC. The film is the first feature film to be developed entirely over the Internet. Produced by After Dark Films, and Massify in association with FanLib, PERKINS' 14 will be distributed in theatres nationwide (January 2009) as part of the third After Dark Horrorfest. Michael Emanuel has ordered up his human buffet and he has filled his entire cast for Maneater, his directorial debut that he will also star in and produce. Dean Cain, Conrad Janis ("The Cable Guy"), Stephen Lunsford ("Bratz"), Walter Phelan ("House of 1000 Corpses"), Maximillian Roeg ("7th Heaven") and Lacy Phillips ("Pushing Twilight") all star in the horror thriller about a former FBI profiler and small-town sheriff investigating mysterious murders is derived from a Native American legend. Emanuel, repped by AKA, also wrote the screenplay with John K. Anderson. "Maneater" is the second in a slate of 10 movies that Canal Street is producing with independent financing; the first was "The Uninvited," which is seeking a distributor.
Russian superstar Alexander Nevsky (interview) has quickly become a name here in the States, especially after the recent announcement that he'll be toplining HERCULES.
