'Hostel: Part II' One Sheet Creating Theater Controversy?
Wednesday, January 10, 2007

I always love a little controversy, especially when theaters or the MPAA ban a piece of artwork. The other day on Eli Roth's official MySpace page a Manager at a Century Theaters outside of Las Vegas wrote a little blurb saying she had been informed that the poster for Lionsgate's Hostel: Part II was not allowed in her theater. Why? Read on for the skinny and check out Hostel: Part II in theaters June 8th.

Draculette writes on Eli Roth's MySpace, "I am Manager at a Century Theaters outside of Las Vegas and they sent us all an email today that said that Century/Cinamark Theaters are not allowed to put up the Hostel 2 Poster on a count of it being so ruthless! So, Century/Cinamark Theaters banned your poster at least all over Clark County but probably all of them. In case you don't know..."

What's so hilarious about this piece of news is that the MPAA approved the one sheet (here), so for a theater to deem it too much is just plain ridiculous. So much for my plan of being a giant piece of ground beef for Halloween next year...

This time, the story follows three women who, while studying abroad for the summer, learn the grim truth behind the Slovakian hostel and its international counterparts. German would play a wealthy girl trying to figure out her next step in life, Phillips would be her best friend and Matarazzo will be a tag-along.
