Tonight while attending the press screening for Rogue Pictures' The Hitcher remake in Hollywood, CA we ran into Platinum Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, who have nearly a dozen new films in the works. We chatted up a bit and I got some updates on a few of the already announced films, including their plan for a third Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Read on for the skinny and check out The Hitcher on January 19th.
When asked about the possibilities of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 he tells Bloody-Disgusting that Platinum Dunes has absolutely no plans in the future to continue the franchise, for them it's finished.
He also tells us that right now they are prepping their next film, The Horsemen, based on an original script by David Callaham. The film, which is being directed by Jonas Akerlund, will begin shooting within the next few weeks. In the film Dennis Quaid will play a bitter detective grieving over his wife's recent death. While investigating a case, he discovers a shocking connection between himself and the suspects in a serial killing spree linked to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Also right down the slate is Carey Malloy's Alone, which we're told is going to be one hell of a brutal film.
Lastly we're told that a major announcement is forthcoming for The Birds - watch this spot for the names of the writers behind the adaptation of the original short story.
The Hitcher hits theaters January 19th.
