Only the last 45 minutues of Devil's Rejects was good. otherwise a lot of people would agree that he can't make horror films. Dimension hires someone who isn't even a real filmaker, he is a tribute/homage specialist. here is his creative vision...stripper mom, masturbating michael, incestual sister and step dad, etc. "hey sherri here is a great idea, lets focus on the Rabbit In Red, great idea?" "hey sherri, even better, why don't you star as a stripper mother who neglects poor little mikey". the movie is supposed to be about halloween night, not his childhood, not how he gets raped in the Smiths Grove asylum, not about his poor trashy childhood. MICHAEL IS GREAT BECAUSE HE IS MYSTERIOUS, PURE EVIL, (along with a touch of supernatural).
when the casting breakdown was released he actually denied writing it, then he said for us not to worry because he wants to weed out certain people from auditioning...okay so he backs down and doesn't defend his supposedly great vision? he posts on the halloween and myspace sites every few days and his word is like the bible, and blind fanboys tell us all how great his idea is, etc.
Mcdowell is a nice touch, but what the fuck he hyped up who would be playing the part and how much we would be awestruck once it was announced. anybody hoping Mcdowell brings respectability back to the franchise is in for a letdown on August 31. and what happened to the release in October? another sign of things to come from the studio. this movie will likely fail because what the fuck is it? is it new story? groundbreaking? a tribute? a different take on the original? an expansion of the original? a little of yes and no to all those questions, which unfortunately means failure in the end. even if i am wrong, rob fucked up halloween once he decided in his mind to explain michael and give him a trashy, gritty, hard-knock, sympathetic background. run of the mill movie killer now, just like the others.
