MICHAEL MYERS CAST IN ROB ZOMBIE'S 'HALLOWEEN'
Sunday, December 24, 2006

Rob Zombie announced today on his official Halloween MySpace page that Michael Myers will be played by none other than Tyler Mane (pic inside) in Dimension Films' Halloween remake! I'm sure you all remember Tyler as Rufus from The Devil's Rejects, Sabretooth in the X-Men and the unstoppable Ajax in Troy. He joins Malcolm McDowell (Dr. Loomis), Sheri Moon, Daeg Faerch (young Michael Myers) and Heather Bowen in the quasi-remake, which hits theaters everywhere August 31st. Danielle Harris is still yet to be confirmed. After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, is mistakenly released from the mental institution (where he was committed as a 10 year old) and he immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.

a cascade of bad ideas.... 1. explaining why he is a killer 2. giving him a fucked up childhood 3. releasing the movie in august 4. casting a 6'10 giant to play the shape 5. michael accidentally being released from smiths grove 6. rape squad in smiths grove malcolm mcdowell is not the worst casting idea, but there were better choices. and the kid looks like a real freak, what happened to michael being normal and then one day snapping?

Michael Myers's Overalls

Christ on a bike. This just gets worse and worse. Michael Myers - a catatonic for most of his life - grows up with the physique of a WWF wrestler? F**k off, this is rubbish. One of the scariest things about Myers in the original film is that he was built like an average guy, he could have been anyone under that mask. Now he's been 'reimagined' as some 7-foot musclebound hulk who spent most of his days working out in the Smith's Grove gym? Again, I say f**k off with this cr*p.

Bad choice for Meyers.

Yeah, at first I was skepticle, then a little reassured after reading interviews with Rob Zombie. But as the cast unfolds, I'm getting a little weary again. Well, at least we'll always have the original. We can always ignore this one if it sucks.

Who cares, he's wearing a mask.

I'm a bit on the fence over his childhood arc. I liked the unknowness (new word!) about Michael. As for the actor cast, I think he can do the body language really well. He was great in X-men. It takes a really trained actor to do the subtle and very creepy walk, tilting of the head and etc. that's associated with Michael Myers.

My dream of the Halloween Remake would be like this. We would get to see How michael was like in his childhood years. How was he like in school and around people and family? How did he hear voices inside his house and why did it cause him to murder his sister, Judith? I would also like to see why micheal's parents died and how baby Laurie got adopted to the Strode family. My biggest wish I would like to see in the remake is Michael's incareration at Smith's Grove Sanitarium. How insane was he? Were the other patients afraid to approach him? Did he commit any murders during his time being locked up? Plus, in the 1978 version, Loomis keep's saying that Michael is pure evil and no one else knows him but, himself. I would like to see the relationship between Dr Loomis and Michael and how did he work with his special patient. Finally, I would like to see how Michael escaped, when and how did he get his trademark Halloween mask, and why is he after his sister Laurie after his escape. In conclusion, Tyler Mane as Michael? Let's just hope this big guy can pull it off.

I love how everyone just jumps to conclusions on here. Im not saying this film will be great either, but at the same time its not even out, give the film a chance people. I remember when Dawn of the Dead remake wasnt even out and everyone on here bashed it and look what happened...yeah its not the original but it turned out pretty good. When its in theaters and you drop down your money or not then come back to the boards and complain until then read the article and wait.

As much as it pains me to say it I think this movie might suck. The idea of going into Michael's mind and revealing more about the Myers family, his childhood ect,is an interesting one,but the cast so far is totally wrong!Tyler is better suited for Jason than Michael Myers.I've said it before, the original is so captivating because of the mystery in that character.Honestly does anyone really want to find out that he's just from some abusive white trash family, come on Rob!

so far every bit of news released shows that this movie will probably suck. rob's philosophy of how he should reimage is terrible. a broken home for michael, where his mom is single and a stripper? an abusive step father named ronnie? ronnie fucking around with judith myers? a wrestler/hulk to play The Shape? kids in the neighborhood teasing young michael? mcdowell is the only decent decision...not a great choice but decent. cant wait to see michael's stripper mom neglecting him etc.....keep michael a mystery! focus on his relationship with loomis! focus on his escape from the asylum! you want to develop his background? why not develop the babysitters backgrounds, or their boyfriends? develop loomis and his wife, but leave michael alone.

i must say that failure is written all over these ideas. wait til after the movie bombs, those who back rob zombie will be the same people who look back in hindsight and say what a mistake it was for him to take over the franchise. once you explain who michael is and show his trashy childhood as the reason for killing, he becomes just a normal horror film killer.

im liking everything about the movie except the casting of michael...6'10....come on rob!! hopefully dannielle will be back..that would make it a little better....i know i may be surprised after seeing it in theaters..but im bashing the shit out of it right now....rob is totally going in the wrong direction with everything...and now im hearing it may even be a torture movie wtf!!

This isn't crap. Crap is getting all worked into a lather and writing an angry diatribe against a film that you KNOW you're going to pay $8 to see on opening night anyway. Some of you guys remind me of the "Daniel Craig Is Not Bond! Let's boycott!" nuts... most of whom undoubtedly saw CASINO ROYALE in theaters and helped make it the most successful James Bond film of all time. And if you think Michael Myers last name is spelled "Meyers", you're not really in a position to declare who is right for the part and who isn't. HALLOWEEN is the greatest horror film ever made. This remake won't change that, one way or the other. Why exactly are some of you suffering from such painful, self-induced wedgies over a few casting tidbits?

What the h*&l is going on here. I posted a perfectly legitimate response to this article with all cursing deleted, and this is more than I can say for everyone else. I did not flame anyone or respond to user posts, simply, as the rules state, responded to the article. What's going on here. Did Zombie email you because he's getting a little offended by the truth contained in my posts (sorry to impede on your feminine delicacies there Zumbie). Anyway I posted within the confines set up here and am getting deleted. Why? Did Zombie email you demanding a retraction by threatening to withhold further emails about the series and thereby excluding you from his little club. The movie is going to suck, he knows it's going to suck, and now he's pissed because franchise fans won't acquiesce and kiss the ground that he graces his presence with. For someone purveying to be a harda%s rocker/shock filmaker this reeks of him acting like a b$%ch..... ##Sauron**

6'10" now that's a fuckin Shape! One thing to be excited about and Malcolm Mcdowell.

9:27pm, December 28, 2006

Only the last 45 minutues of Devil's Rejects was good. otherwise a lot of people would agree that he can't make horror films. Dimension hires someone who isn't even a real filmaker, he is a tribute/homage specialist. here is his creative vision...stripper mom, masturbating michael, incestual sister and step dad, etc. "hey sherri here is a great idea, lets focus on the Rabbit In Red, great idea?" "hey sherri, even better, why don't you star as a stripper mother who neglects poor little mikey". the movie is supposed to be about halloween night, not his childhood, not how he gets raped in the Smiths Grove asylum, not about his poor trashy childhood. MICHAEL IS GREAT BECAUSE HE IS MYSTERIOUS, PURE EVIL, (along with a touch of supernatural). when the casting breakdown was released he actually denied writing it, then he said for us not to worry because he wants to weed out certain people from auditioning...okay so he backs down and doesn't defend his supposedly great vision? he posts on the halloween and myspace sites every few days and his word is like the bible, and blind fanboys tell us all how great his idea is, etc. Mcdowell is a nice touch, but what the fuck he hyped up who would be playing the part and how much we would be awestruck once it was announced. anybody hoping Mcdowell brings respectability back to the franchise is in for a letdown on August 31. and what happened to the release in October? another sign of things to come from the studio. this movie will likely fail because what the fuck is it? is it new story? groundbreaking? a tribute? a different take on the original? an expansion of the original? a little of yes and no to all those questions, which unfortunately means failure in the end. even if i am wrong, rob fucked up halloween once he decided in his mind to explain michael and give him a trashy, gritty, hard-knock, sympathetic background. run of the mill movie killer now, just like the others.

Someone else is posting here are TheTodd, which is the name I use on the Official Halloween Message Board. Let me assure you, he and I are not the same. Anyway, people can complain all they want about this movie. Whine away, if it makes you feel better. It needed to be different from the original or there would be no point. I happen to think the idea we've heard so far are good and will result in a movie that compliments the original without simply rehashing it.

All I can say to the whiners here is, keep whining. This movie will be a compliment to the original without simply rehashing it. If you want only to see Carpenters version, put it in your dvd player and STFU.

i absolutely adore rob zombie. i don't flip flop with my adoration and man love for rob, even if it seems to be the case. i hope his movie does well, and then perhaps rob will leave sherri moon for me. can't wait for this film...and i thought the horror industry peaked with Scream. someone help me, i hate myself.
