Cannibal (2005): Unearthed Films

Unearthed Films is calling this the most graphic film since Pasolini’s Salo. We’ll see about that.

This six-disc set feature six full length features. (The Boy From Hell, Lizard Baby, Dead Girl Walking, Death Train, Ravaged House: Zoroku’s Disease, Occult detective Club: The Doll Cemetery)

Monica Keena (Freddy vs. Jason) returns to the genre in what feels like a slightly derivative new thriller.
Nezulla the Rat Monster: Tokyo Shock
A Japanese Company funded by the USA experimenting with anti-bacteriological weapons creates a mutated humanoid rat creature which becomes violent and murders the lab technicians. The lab is condemned and its horrifying experiments kept a secret. However the strange bacteria leak from the lab and spreads to the nearby inhabitants causing a humanoid epidemic! Three people are sent to the lab to uncover the US government conspiracy that unleashed a bloodthirsty monster beyond their wildest imagination.
Tokyo Shock/Media Blasters drops this cheesy 2002 Japanese epic onto our shores with little fanfare.
Scary Movie 4 (HD-DVD): Weinstein Company
Anna Faris and Regina Hall are back as the lovable, dim-witted Cindy Campbell and her self-serving, sex-crazed pal Brenda respectively. They are joined this time around by Craig Bierko as the cute, but utterly clueless, Tom Ryan. Together, they battle to save the world from a ruthless alien invasion. Cindy Campbell moves in next to Tom Ryan because she's taking care of an old lady. She finds out the house is haunted by a little boy and goes on a quest in the village to find out who killed him and why. Also, Alien "Tr-iPods" are invading the world and Cindy has to uncover the secret in order to stop them.
Any funnier in HD? Probably not.

As the story unfolds, revealing each students dark secrets, the boundary between the real world and the afterlife is no longer clear. UK Director David Smith’s film features Luke Mably (28 Days Later) and Sam Troughton (Alien Vs. Predator) and another assorted moppets of death as fodder for an angry ghost.

Wolf Creek (HD-DVD): Weinstein Company
Stranded backpackers in remote Australia fall prey to a murderous bushman who offers to fix their car, then takes them captive.
Greg McLean’s horrific serial killer film gets the HD treatment. As if John Jarratt wasn’t scary enough in standard resolution!
Zombie Nation: Lionsgate
LAPD officer Joe has a passion for arresting women, handcuffing them and killing them. He's a serial police killer getting away with murder, since his buddies at precinct 707 always cover for him. His killing rampage might have gone on forever, had it not been for 17-year-old Romy, who heard about women disappearing in her neighborhood and asks several Voodoo Priestesses to protect her from Evil. When officer Joe gets a hold of her, his fortunes turn around, and he is suddenly haunted by a violent group of female Zombies seeking revenge.
German director Ulli Lommel caps a prolific year with his 5th DVD release of 2006. This time he drags genre vet David Hess (Last House on the Left) into his creepy world of Direct-to-Video trash.
