Tartan Films has acquired all North American rights to the hallucinogenic Hungarian film Taxidermia, which was featured in Un Certain Regard at the Festival de Cannes in May, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Gyorgy Palfi's grotesque tale uses special effects to track three generations of men, including an award-winning obese speed eater, an embalmer of gigantic cats and a man who shoots fire out of his penis. "The film is really out there," Tartan managing director Laura DeCasto said. "It's inventive, provocative and unique even among specialized films."
