L.A.-based Lightning Entertainment has picked up international rights to La hora fria (The Cold Hour), the second film by Spaniard Elio Quiroga, according to Variety. The pickup comes as Quiroga has begun to shoot his third film, "NO DO," a psychological chiller toplining Ana Torrent ("Thesis"). Quiroga broke through with his debut "Photos," a sweeping romantic meller. Produced by Quiroga's Canaries Islands-based Eqlipse label, "Cold Hour" is a rare departure for Spanish film-making: an upscale zombie/sci-fi pic. "Cold Hour" chronicles how group of human survivors who attempt to live normal lives while fending off zombies -- human beings who have suffered the effects of chemical warfare. "The Cold Hour" refers to periodic waves of sub-normal temperatures that confine the survivors to their rooms. "'The Cold Hour' has a strong concept, great performances and captures an atmosphere. We are living in dangerous and precarious times: Quiroga's films addresses that issue," Guardian added.
