The scoops just keep on coming in today- although this next one I cannot confirm until I hear of some other people who happened to catch it on TV. B-D reader 'Time Warper' writes in to B-D, "In a recent interview with E!, shock-rocker Marilyn Manson revealed that 20th Century Fox has approached him to star as the sweet transvestite, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, in an update of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, tentatively titled Rocky Horror." Rumors about a remake have been floating around for months... and who better than Manson to join the horror? We'll keep you posted and confirm as soon as we know, until then keep this under rumor.

I don't think this is actually "news." This was supposed to be a made for tv project for Halloween 2003. From imdb: Let's Do the Time Warp Again 1 October 2002 (WENN) Cult movie musical The Rocky Horror Picture Show is set for a makeover with a new celebrity cast and new tunes. Impressario Lou Adler, who produced the legendary 1975 movie hit, starring Susan Sarandon and Tim Curry, is putting the finishing touches to a new cast list, and he hopes to have a new TV movie version of Rocky Horror ready for Halloween 2003. Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert moviemaker Stephan Elliott is on board to direct the remake, while Moulin Rouge composer Marius De Vries has been signed up to add original music. Adler admits the project has taken a long time to come together because he has been unable to find a replacement for Curry, who played outrageously camp Frank N Furter in the original. The producer says, "I just never found the right person but now I have. We're going to wait until March and then probably do it for next Halloween." No casting details have been released, although speculation in Hollywood suggests Marilyn Manson is a frontrunner for the Frank N Furter role. Rocky Horror: The TV Show 1 July 2002 (StudioBriefing) Fox Broadcasting is planning to produce a TV version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the original stage production, the Hollywood Reporter reported today (Monday). Lou Adler, who exec produced the film version of the show three years later and has been set to produce the TV version as well, told the Reporter: "I think that [director] Stephan Elliott came up with a brilliant concept and settings and images that allows us to use the same music and the same dialogue and yet we're making a different movie." The show is being retitled The Rocky Horror Birthday Show.

You know, I have officially decided there is no decency in this world. Remaking Rocky Horror has to be the most terrible crime against humanity there ever was. I don't care if its Marilyn or Michael Jackson. As I said with Day of the Dead... FUCK THIS MOVIE! (Watch me swallow those words when I flesh out 10 clams to see this movie... dammit...)

I don't know if I like the idea of remaking Rocky... It's such a cult classic that if they do one thing wrong it could ruin the movies reputation forever!

No no no no NO! They cant make a remake of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It will just ruin it, i dont care who they find. Some movies just cannot be remade effectively, and Rocky Horror is one of them.

Hi I think if they do remake rocky, they should get David Bedella to do Frnk'n'Furter as he is sexy gorgeouse and the best after Tim Curry. If any of the people involved in the project please condider David.

I like the movie, but the remake thing is getting old. Marilyn manson would not be able to do this role. They would probably try to re-imagine it like all the other remakes. Which really means differant movie same title. I hope they can do it justice and don't make it suck harder than Manson on a microphone. I like the guy's music kinda, but damn. They should use up and coming actors not stale namebrand musicians.

Oh hell NO!I love Manson and his image, I do,but come on? He's just not cut out to be Frank in anyway.Frank is suppose to be a charming, classy, yet slutty god!Tim Curry nailed that role, and a remake of this cult classic would be an insult to all who were in,and involved in it . BTW, on any other board iv'e seen this on, no one like the idea of a remake. The only one's who do are 14yr old manson groupies who have pretty much only heard what RHPS is about and never seen it.... No disrepsect intended.

The whole idea of a remake's abhorrent to me, anyway; it'd be like re-imagining the soundtrack to my teen years. But what the hell, how about Glenn Danzig as Eddie?

I'd love to see Marilyn Manson singing about being a sweet transvestite!!!
