'Saw' Trio to End Trilogy This Friday with 'Saw III'

If our previous post wasn't cool enough (four new clips!), we've got a little scoop we'd like to share with you. Although the news isn't great, it is nice to hear the creators of the Saw franchise offering a friendly goodbye and giving their blessings for more sequels. Read on for the skinny and watch for a full report in the coming days. Saw III hits theaters this Friday.

During the junket in Los Angeles, CA Writer Leigh Whannell and Director Darren Bousman both confirmed that they will not be returning to do Saw 4 for Lionsgate. They were happy to wrap it up as a trilogy and end the franchise as a dedication piece to Gregg Hoffman, who passed away last December. We also got in contact with James Wan, creator of the first film, who also confirmed the same news for himself.

Jigsaw has disappeared.

With his new apprentice Amanda (Shawnee Smith), the puppet-master behind the cruel, intricate games that have terrified a community and baffled police has once again eluded capture and vanished. While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) is unaware that she is about to become the latest pawn on his vicious chessboard. One night, after finishing a shift at her hospital, Lynn is kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse where she meets Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), bedridden and on the verge of death. She is told that she must keep the madman alive for as long as it takes Jeff (Angus Macfayden), another of his victims, to complete a game of his own. Racing against the ticking clock of Jigsaw’s own heartbeat, Lynn and Jeff struggle to make it through each of their vicious tests, unaware that he has a much bigger plan for both of them…

Not sure how I feel about another Saw coming out! After the original writers declined making a Saw 4 that should have been the end. (Trilogy is 3) I don't think any other writers could top what Whannell, Bousman and Wan created.
