This year's Frightfest UK has come and gone, and what came of it (besides a flurry of talk about some short intros created by Adam Green and Joe Lynch) was that the next big thing is a film called Mum & Dad, which we first told you about here. Various sources tells us that the talk of the massive UK film festival was Steven Sheil's film, which is said to be fantastic. Inside we've got a look at the poster for the film, or you can click the title for stills and a trailer. ...Read More
Writer-Director Edward Romero is back with a new indie horror project that begins shooting in Los Angeles later this year. BUTTERFLY is a suspense/horror hybrid about NICK COLE, a straight-to-video horror director who is kidnapped by, LANEY, an over zealous fan, determined to impress him with her own film project. The situation goes from bad to worse when Cole realizes that the murders in Laney's film are real, and that the victims are all people from his own dark past. Think Hard Candy meets The Blair Witch Project with a sardonic edge... Watch for updates soon.
We broke the news exclusively here on B-D Back in June that Rogue Pictures was planning a sequel to their summer smash-hit, The Strangers, which racked in over $50 million here in the States. Today the news became official as Rogue has tapped Bryan Bertino to return to write the script. Bertino wrote and directed the first film. Read on for the full story. ...Read More
Awesome! A year or so ago I read a script by Sean Hogan and Christine Conradt entitled Summer, which I thought was really flippin' cool. I was shocked tonight to discover that the film is already halfway through its Ottawa shoot, with Lee De Marbre behind the camera. Ashley Greene (Twilight; pictured inside) is set to topline alongside Stephen McHattie (Watchmen, Pontypool), Barbara Niven and Peter Mooney, who will all play the deranged kinfolk that Greene's character encounters on her quest to find the father she's never known. ...Read More

While additional shooting is about to get underway, today Access Hollywood posted an exclusive preview of Summit Entertainment's Twilight, which now arrives in theaters November 21st. One of my favorite foreign horror films of all-time is Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza's Spanish flick [REC] (review), which has already been remade here in the States as QUARANTINE (hitting theaters October 10). While the remake is already arriving in theaters, the original is still making its way around the world giving horror fans a taste of some real horror. While the film was making its rounds in New Zealand, a promotion for the release made the news as it was banned by the New Zealand censors. Read on to see what happened... ...Read More
After delivering such fine films at THE CROW and DARK CITY, it's hard not to be excited for Alex Proyas' next venture, Dracula: Year Zero, which he has no begun work as he waits for his latest film, KNOWING, to arrive in theaters next March from Summit Entertainment. This morning we came across a new interview with the director, who talks about what kind of mythology we'll find in this new Dracula tale. Read on for the story. ...Read More
If there was one thing I want to see more than anything else in the entire world it would be Garth Ennis' PREACHER comic adapted in some way - I don't care how. First it was to be a movie based on the first few books, then we got the news that it was soon to be a HBO series - probably the best news ever. But now, it looks like God has returned and is putting his entire army against this project. Will we ever see it? I've given up hope, read on for the latest... ...Read More
One of the dozen of horror films making its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September is Bruce McDonald's Pontypool, which was recently acquired for release by Maple Pictures. Up until today (this very moment to be exact), nothing has really been known about the film other than the film followed a small-town radio station that discovers that recent madness in the local population may be caused by a virus transmitted through speech. Today we got our hands on the official synopsis, along with six stills from the film! Read on to check 'em out. ...Read More
It's the same old song and dance, isn't it? A little semantics goes a long way in Hollywood, especially when you're trying to protect your film. It was revealed today that Summit Entertainment will be shooting "additional scenes" for their over-hyped teen vampire drama, Twilight, which now arrives in theaters November 21 (a day once inhabited by HARRY POTTER). Inside you can read about the latest on Catherine Hardwicke's adaptation. ...Read More

One of the coolest things I did last October was Universal Studio Hollywood's "Halloween Horror Nights," which features mazes for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, FRIDAY THE 13TH and THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. One of the downfalls was the weak horror tram ride, which is now promised to be revamped, along with the ELM STREET maze. In addition, THE STRANGERS will now be part of the event taking place October 3-November 1. Read on for full details and get ready for (more than) one good scare. ...Read More
Opening in Spain next month is King of the Hill (El Rey de la Montaña), which we caught at last year's TIFF (review here). Today the international poster was discovered, along with the trailer, both of which can be found inside. Trying to find his direction, he suddenly gets shot from the hill. On his escape from gunshots, he meets Bea, an attractive young woman, who apparently is lost as well.
