Stephen Susco, now there's an impressive name looming all around Hollywood. The man's The Grudge 2 just opened strong this past weekend at #1 and he already has what feels like a dozen projects in development. Today we can add one more to the list -- a special one -- as Stephen will make his directorial debut on the lit adaptation White for Focus Features' genre banner Rogue! Congrats Stephen! Read on for the skinny.
"The Grudge" franchise scribe Stephen Susco will make his directorial debut on the lit adaptation "White" for Focus Features' genre banner Rogue, according to Variety.
"White" -- a bigscreen version of a novella included within author Tim Lebbon's "White and Other Tales of Ruin" -- is an apocalyptic tale centering on a band of people trapped in a blizzard and systematically picked off by mysterious phantoms.
Former Miramax exec Michael Zoumas is producing for his Zoom Entertainment imprint.
The compilation of Lebbon novellas was published in 2003 via Night Shade Books. Susco optioned the story, and he and Zoumas brought the project to Rogue, headed by Andrew Rona.
Zoom, which also is producing for Rogue the animated feature "Coraline," has a first-look pact in place with the genre label.
Rogue recently rolled out "Jet Li's Fearless." Banner's upcoming pics include a remake of "The Hitcher" and ping-pong comedy "Balls of Fury."
Susco's "The Grudge 2" opened last weekend for Sony at No. 1. Susco also scripted the first "Grudge" pic. Scribe recently sold his spec "Sanctuary" to Sobini Films.
