Promo Art For John Carpenter's 'Riot'
Posted: November 23, 2008 @ 12:34am

Beyond the break you can take a peak at some early teaser art for John Carpenter's newly titled RIOT (originally SCARED STRAIGHT). Produced by Nu Image, Nicolas Cage is still toplining the film that follows a death row inmate who is helping to reform a group of juvenile delinquents in a Scared Straight program when a large-scale riot breaks out. The screenplay was written by Joe Gazzam. ...Read More

Real Life: Cure Found for 'Werewolf Boy'
Posted: November 22, 2008 @ 3:10pm

It's a slow news week, so I thought I'd share this crazy piece of news with you guys. While that BS piece of news floats around the web regarding THE WOLFMAN remake, an online paper in the UK is reporting that a real-life "werewolf boy" is losing his hair. Beyond the break you can read all about a new cure for hypertrichosis, along with a picture of one of the patients (yowsers!). ...Read More

Summit Greenlits 'Twilight: New Moon', Movie Opens HUGE
Posted: November 22, 2008 @ 2:47pm

You want the good news, or the bad news first? The good news is for fans of Twilight who can go to bed dreaming of a New Moon, the sequel now officially greenlit by Summit Entertainment. The bad news is that you can get ready for another decade of TWILIGHT coverage, as the film took in a disgusting $35.7 million from 3,419 playdates on Friday -- including $7 million from Thursday midnight shows. Whether you like it or not, I think it's safe to say all four books will be making it to the big screen. No word on Catherine Hardwicke's return. Read on for details on the sequel and don't forget you can write your own review of the film. ...Read More

'Oldboy' Not a Remake, Still....
Posted: November 21, 2008 @ 3:40pm

At the premiere of his movie SEVEN POUNDS, Will Smith explained that the Oldboy he's working on with Steven Spielberg isn't a remake. "We’re looking at that right now," he tells Film School Rejects. "Not the film though, it’s the original source material. There’s the original comics of ‘Oldboy’ that they made the first film from. And that’s what we’re working from, not an adaptation of the film…" I'm sorry, does it make a difference? The problem isn't that they're remaking a masterpiece, it's that Will Smith and Steven Spielberg are remaking a masterpiece. I can't wait to see the PG-13 version of this story.... ...Read More

Horrorfest '08: Sweet Retro Poster For 'Perkins' 14'
Posted: November 21, 2008 @ 4:00am

I know it;s a fad, but I don't think I'll ever get sick of companies pumping out retro posters. Today After Dark Films released a new one sheet for Craig Singer's Perkins' 14, which will open in theaters January 9th as part of next year's AFTER DARK HORRORFEST. The film revolves around the arrest of a suspected murderer and the bloodshed that follows. ...Read More

Brand New Poster For Kate Beckinsale's 'Whiteout'
Posted: November 21, 2008 @ 3:52am

Another film sitting on Warner Bros. cold front is Whiteout, which stars Kate Beckinsale. Today a new one sheet was posted online from the film arriving in theaters September 11, 2009. The ticking-clock “Whiteout” follows U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko as she uncovers the first murder ever in the Antarctic just as the sun is about to set for six months. She must catch the killer before he leaves the ice or be stuck there with him in the dark for six months. Footage shown at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con looked pretty awesome, so why the delay? Only time will truly tell. ...Read More

EXCLUSIVE 'War Monkeys' Meets Aliens, Shaun of the Dead & Gremlins!
Posted: November 21, 2008 @ 3:17am

I'm almost disappointed that Kevin Munroe is about to ship off to shoot DEAD OF NIGHT, the adaptation to DYLAN DOG. While I'm more excited for that film than the countless other horror pics in development, Munroe's second project is what I am really digging on. We caught up with Munroe who goes into deep details on War Monkeys, a film that pits man vs monkey. ...Read More

This evening we've added our official review for Summit Entertainment's Twilight, the hotly anticipated adaptation to Stephenie Meyer's teen vampire drama. The Apocalypse to Come in 'The Days Before'
Posted: November 20, 2008 @ 2:42pm

Now this is what I call thinking "outside the box". Warner Bros. has snapped up THE DAYS BEFORE, a creepy sci-fi action spec by tyro scribe Chad St. John. The story, which reminds me like an episode of "The Twilight Zone" mixed with elements of THE TERMINATOR, centers on aliens invading Earth by traveling backwards through time and wiping out humanity -- yesterday by yesterday -- while one man stays a yesterday ahead of them, trying to convince the world that the end is coming again.

Directors Shoot Down 'Jonah Hex' Adaptation
Posted: November 20, 2008 @ 1:08am

Pretty disappointing news this evening as Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank, Pathology) have dropped out as the directors of Jonah Hex, the DC Comics property that is expected to headline Josh Brolin as a partly disfigured gunslinger and bounty hunter. Neveldine and Taylor wrote the script, but their exit as directors was attributed to "creative differences." Warner Bros. is moving quickly to set a new director, determined to keep Brolin in the fold for a spring start. Click the title for more info on HEX.

I Am Legend Writer Takes a Stab at 'Oldboy'
Posted: November 19, 2008 @ 4:07pm

As I sit here still cringing over the idea of Steve Spielberg and Will Smith commercializing the incredible Oldboy, Smith is already running around Hollywood looking for someone to pen the remake. According to THR, Mark Protosevich - who wrote the first draft of I AM LEGEND - is in talks to write the film where a man gets kidnapped and held in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he's released and given money, a cell phone and clothes and is set on a path to discover who destroyed his life so he can take revenge. Has anyone else accepted this news yet? I'm still trying to force it down.
