Intrepid Pictures has preemptively acquired the spec script Mercy by tyro scribes Carolyn Townsend and Eddie Hartman, according to Variety. The story follows a college student who sets out to debunk the urban legend of the Mercy Killer -- a killer who makes his victims' deaths look like suicides -- only to discover that he is all too real and has chosen her as his next victim. Intrepid's Katherine Brown brought the project into the shingle. Founded in 2005 by Trevor Macy and Marc Evans, Intrepid is a feature film production and co-financing company with a nonexclusive, first-look deal with Universal Pictures and Rogue Pictures.
