Today we added a trio of new reviews courtesy of Room 237 and our Classic Horror guru Don K. Room 237 sent is a review of Full Moon's classic film Castle Freak, which was directed by the great Stuart Gordon. Don K. keeps the classic horror films in your mind with a review of Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street, his groundbreaking 1984 horror pic that put New Line Cinema on the map; he also added a look at Sony's direct-to-video release of I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, which hopefully will be the end of the franchise. Read on for some quotes from the reviews or just click the titles above to go to the film pages.
A Nightmare on Elm Street: Don K writes, "Though his own franchise would endure some highs and lows as the character became a cultural icon, the dream killer’s first outing remains a chilling, disturbing and groundbreaking effort that holds a rightful place in the pantheon of all-time great fear films. It is, indeed, a horror fan’s dream come true."
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer: Don K writes, "The film is just enjoyable enough to whet your appetite and make you hope for a fourth chapter. If there is another installment, I’ll be there the day it hits the store shelves, hoping that it’s just a bit better and a bit more original than the film it follows."
Castle Freak: Room 237 writes, "Castle Freak is a largely unknown film in Stuart Gordon’s canon of horror pictures. This is really very sad, as it is definitely one of my favorites - right behind the classic Re-Animator. I strongly encourage any fans of his previous works to check this out, as I think you’ll be very satisfied."
