One of the coolest movies I saw this year was Sony's Monster House, which put me in a state of shock with its astounding 3-D FX work. I'm now pretty confident that any movie can work in 3-D as long as it's organic and not "gimmicky". So when I heard one of my favorite actresses, Angela Bettis (May), was going to star in a brand new 3-D horror pic, I nearly wet myself. Read on for the skinny on Scar, which actually sounds quite promising.
Angela Bettis is set to topline the 3-D/HD feature Scar, for Jed Weintrob to direct, according to Production Weekly.
Zack Ford's script follows Bettis' character Joan Burrows who returns home for her niece Olympia's high school graduation only to be confronted with her nightmarish past: at the age of 16, Joan and her best friend were kidnapped and extensively tortured by a serial killer named Ernie Parish. Joan managed to escape and kill her captor, but it appears as though he has somehow come back from the dead, intent on continuing his macabre and deeply disturbing proclivities.
Their production office will open on September 5 and has scheduled 25 days of shooting in Calgary beginning October 3.
