"Deadwood" star Ian McShane has signed on to star opposite Rene Zellweger in Case 39 for Paramount Pictures, according to Variety. German helmer Christian Alvart is directing, with shooting scheduled to start this summer in Vancouver. Texas Battle, Sam Easton, Alexz Johnson, Alexa Karter, Crystal Lowe, Ryan Merriman, Chelan Simmons, Kirsten Storms and Alexis Thorpe also star. Penned by Ray Wright, the story centers on a social worker (Zellweger) who saves an abused girl from her parents but later discovers things are not as they seem. McShane plays the cop who helps Zellweger's character investigate the case.
