Today B-D reader 'The Switcher' (cool name 'eh?) sent in a review of Yuji Shimomura's Death Trance, which played at this year's FanTasia Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. The fest started the other day and runs through July 24th. The Switcher writes in with excitement, "While not a direct sequel, Death Trance has been called a spiritual successor of sorts to Ryuhei Kitamura's zombie/martial arts opus, as it borrows a lot of what made Versus such a fun film... this definitely ranks in my top 10 of Fantasia films to date." In an unknown place and unknown time, a master Samurai known only by the name of Grave (Tak Sakaguchi) searches for the ultimate battle. Never showing fear for any fight, Grave is the one and only swordsman able tosteal the mysterious and legendary coffin from the holy Tougan Temple. In this world without reason, a young girl from the temple grounds follows Grave and the coffin wherever they may go. And so begins the deadly race to re-capture the coffin and its hidden power from Grave for good or evil.
