After the screaming success of Eli Roth's Hostel, which Lionsgate released theatrically here in the States, Hostel 2 was almost instantaneously greenlit. We are still yet to here official word on a Jay Hernandez reunion, but what is confirmed is that the film will begin shooting at Prague's Barrandov Studios this September with the story focusing on three females. Inside you'll find a story detailing the shoot, along with details from Roth about what his vision is for the highly anticipated sequel...
Eli Roth will go into production on his "Hostel" sequel in September at Prague's Barrandov Studios and other locations around the Czech Republic reports Production Weekly.
Roth confirms he'll also shoot a bit around Rome and potentially Slovakia if they allow him back (Slovaks took great exception to how their country was portrayed in the first film). "Hostel 2" will focus around three female protagonists and unlike the first film, will start off dark and creepy and remain that way throughout.
"Part 2 is going to start off scary and stay creepy all the way through. I want it to feel like the movie is going to pick up on the next cut, as if you could watch the two movies back-to-back and it would be a three-hour movie. There will be some new things in there, but it has to look and feel like that movie" says Roth.
Roth will then head into production on a film version of Stephen King's "Cell" next spring.
