I love Jason Voorhees and I love the Friday the 13th franchise, but seriously, are any of them really that good (with the exception of Jason Lives)? So it must come as no surprise that when New Line Cinema announced the quasi-remake of Friday the 13th with Platinum Dunes, I was excited - extremely excited. I want to fear Jason, I want to cringe when he kills someone and I want him to be gritty and realistic unlike in Jason X. Freddy vs Jason was a step in the right direction, but still quite campy. I want a fresh start, I want it done by a company I know will do everything they can to make sure it's violent, bloody and gruesome... that's Platinum Dunes. Producer Brad Fuller tells Bloody-Disgusting exclusively during an upcoming interview, "We have been trying to get “Friday the 13th” made for a long time. The rights continue to be a problem, but we are optimistic that those issues will be resolved sometime in the next six months." There's a little positive news to keep us believers believing! I've got my fingers crossed, do you? Platinum Dunes heads out to shoot The Hitcher remake in Austin, Texas next week.
