Director(s) Found for Fox's 'Alien vs Predator 2'?!

In the past decade or so, the single most disappointing film I've seen is easily Paul W.S. Anderson and 20th Century Fox's Alien vs Predator. When Fox announced they were ready to gun out Alien vs Predator 2 for an August 207 release, my skin crawled. I seriously thought the first AvP would signal the sure death of both franchises, but now the joke is that this one will seal the deal. But good news from the grapevine, as it's rumored that Anderson will not be returning as director. Read on to see the rumor...

"IGN FilmForce was informed by a tipster that 20th Century Fox may have found who they want to direct Alien vs. Predator 2. In this case, two directors.

Our scooper points out that the Wikipedia entry for special effects artists-turned-directors Greg and Colin Strause, a.k.a. the Brothers Strause, claims that the siblings "have recently been mentioned as the possible feature film directors for Alien vs. Predator 2. The sequel to 2004's Alien vs. Predator is set to be released in August 2007."

IGN's tipster advised us that the Brothers Strause "are set to direct AvP2," adding, "They've met with the producers and set to sign on this week."

As of June 1st, the Brothers Strause's official site coyly announced that "something big is brewing."

IGN attempted to confirm or deny this rumor with the brothers' reps at WMA and Management 360, as well as with the filmmakers themselves. None of these parties responded to our inquiry by publishing time.

In addition to their award-winning work as music video and commercial directors, the Brothers Strause also run Hydraulx, which has provided special effects work for such Fox films as X-Men: The Last Stand, Fantastic Four and The Day After Tomorrow."

Thanks to alienexperience.com for the heads up.
