After releasing such classics as Battle Royale, Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and many, many more, it seemed only a mater of time before they began expanding into other countries... like Spain! Tartan Home Video sent in the following release date announcements: The Asia Extreme film One Take Only hits DVD on August 22nd. Oxide Pang (The EYE) made his solo-directorial debut with this film.
Their first Spanish horror film (pictured), H6: Diary of a Serial Killer will also hit retailers on August 22nd. H6 tells Antonio Frau's story, he is a serial killer that acts on the less fortunate people. Moved by his desire to be in the limelight mixed with pseudocientist theories, gives freedom to his most violent and destructive impulses. This film is, among other things, a journey inside a psychopath's mind.
Coming this September 12th is The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, which is still playing theatrically and one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year. Roger Ebert, Premiere and Paste Magazine, The Chicago Tribune and Newsday.com have all given it four stars, and it has won multiple awards.
The Maid will also hit on September 12th. Asia Extreme is expanding beyond J and K- Horror titles. This is Singapore's first homegrown horror movie, which earned a record-breaking US$700,000 at the box office, their highest opening ever for a local film.
Last, but not least, is the epic Lady Vengeance (review #1, #2), which hits DVD on September 26th. Also playing theatrically and from the director of Oldboy! In addition to being Tartan's biggest September release, this title is probably the most highly anticipated DVD that we will be releasing in 2006!!!
