While reporting that Scary Movie 4 (review) took home the #1 spot with an estimated $41 million, Variety got work directly from Bob Weinstein who confirmed a fifth entry in the franchise is in development! Zucker is currently working on Superhero!, meaning Scary Movie 5 likely wouldn't come until late 2007 at the earliest, unless projects switch position, according to Variety. While the opening for 'SM4' was very strong -- biggest ever on Easter weekend -- the franchise is losing a little steam.
