Cabin Fever (review 1) finally hits theaters today, so what can you expect? Will there be tons of blood? How about some big scares? Does Cabin Fever deliver even with all the hype? Read on to see what Mr Disgusting thought of Eli Roth's freshman flick...
After checking out one of the most hyped movies since Rob Zombies House of 1000 Corpses, I was left wondering only one thing... Was the movie half full, or half empty? Being as I really enjoyed the film and can't wait to see it again, I'm going to have to go with half full.
Yes I know, the hype, I wonder how much this ruined the film for me. I expected a blood bath, I expected some intense scenes like in 28 Days Later, I expected something original with the taste of Evil Dead, but I still left feeling disappointed slightly.
Don't get me wrong, you must see Cabin Fever, no excuses, but to me it was nothing breathtaking or genre changing, simply fun like Fox's Wrong Turn. Some great dialogue, funny characters and unbelievable acting. You could really sense the fear in their eyes, in their voices.
What do they fear you ask? Some virus, some fever that's spreading because of a woodsman. He asked for help and instead spread the disease like the black plague. The blood, spit up just like in 28 Days Later, the violence, severe like in Evil Dead 1 & 2, the idea, something simple to make your first feature film around.
Eli Roth is awesome, and I cant wait to see what Richard Kelly and him bring to the table. Donnie Darko meets Cabin Fever, bringing a great writer into the arms of Eli Roth is a fantastic idea and the future of horror could begin anew with these two. Until then, check out Cabin Fever and don't forget to thank the big scary Lion for bringing you it... Thanks Lions Gate!
