Ash Exits the 'Evil Dead' Remake?

Even though Sam Raimi's brother Ted was quoted (here) as saying that the Evil Dead remake might not happen, Bruce Campbell sounds quite the opposite- he's even spilled the beans that there might not even be an Ash in the remake! How retarded is that? The original tells the tale of a group of friends who go to a cabin in the woods, where they find an unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. One by one, the teens become deadly zombies. Read on for the skinny...

During an interview with Dread Central, Bruce explains:

"I don’t think we’re gonna have an Ash. I think we’re gonna take similar elements like the book in that it’s sort of as though the book is resurfacing with a – in a new situation. So that way, ya know, you don’t hassle with the whole who is getting Ashton Kutcher to play Ash or some horse****, ya know? You don’t have to play that game."
