Not to be confused with Dimension Films' The Reaper, M8 Entertainment and Circle Of Confusion LLC have just signed Tony Kaye (American History X) to direct their pic entitled Reaper, according to Comingsoon.net. Reaper tells the story of Virgil, a private investigator who finds himself recruited by the darkly beautiful and mysterious Delia. As he begins to work for Delia, Virgil finds himself suddenly immersed in a surreal underworld, one where the boundaries of life and death - as well as right and wrong -are completely blurred. This unlikely journey also reveals the harrowing answers to the fate of Virgil's own daughter. Read on for the full story...

Comingsoon.net reports:

"M8 Entertainment and Circle Of Confusion LLC announced today that visionary and critically acclaimed director Tony Kaye is attached to direct their new project, Reaper. Kaye earned widespread critical praise with his visually groundbreaking film, American History X, for which Edward Norton received an Academy Award nomination. Since that film Kaye has been working as one of the world's preeminent commercial directors, but Reaper represents the first feature film project that Kaye has agreed to take on since American History X.

"We're enormously excited to have Tony Kaye, a filmmaker with incredible vision and talent, join this project. 'Reaper' is an ideal vehicle for a director with a strong visual style, and we expect that Tony will bring a whole new dimension to the film, conceptually and commercially," stated Sammy Lee, Chairman of the Board for M8 Entertainment and a producer on the film. "Furthermore, this continues M8's new focus on working with top directors - directors like Wayne Kramer and Mike Binder," further added Lee.

"Tony is a great asset to the project," said David Alpert, a Circle of Confusion partner, and producer on the film. "He has exceptional insight into how to ground the story with great characters, and yet make it incredibly exciting through its genre elements."

Written by Gary Whitta, Reaper is a stylish thriller/neo-noir in the vein of Blade Runner and Se7en. M8 Entertainment is co-producing the film with Circle of Confusion LLC. Pre-production is currently underway.

M8 Entertainment is nearing completion on a number of feature films, including Running Scared, an action/drama by acclaimed director Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) and starring Paul Walker (The Fast and the Furious) which New Line Cinema recently acquired the U.S. rights for; and Lovewrecked, a charming teen comedy starring Amanda Bynes (What A Girl Wants) and directed by Randal Kleiser (Grease, Honey I Blew Up the Kid).

Circle of Confusion is a management production company that specializes in developing elevated "genre" material. Circle is currently working on Magic Kingdom for Sale at Universal with Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel writing and Stephen Sommers directing, The House at Awful End at Warner Brothers with Matt Huffman writing and Francis Lawrence directing, and Invincible based on the best selling Robert Kirkman comic at Paramount."
