As you've probably noticed BD has made some changes over the weekend. There may still be a few bugs lurking out there, but we'll be hard at work throughout the week to bring everything up to speed and back to normal. Read on if you want to know more about what changed, and why we changed it.
BD has been growing in popularity since we started, and as a result our server bill has been steadily increasing with our hits. Since this is a fan run site, to keep it online we had to make some changes. We were running on the PostNuke system, which while it was nice to have everything integrated right out of the box, caused us a lot of overhead and wasted bandwidth. So.. we decided to ditch the whole system and write a new streamlined site based on PHP/MySQL, which is what you are seeing now.
All the major sections of the site are functional including reviews, news, special features, and the forums (and yes all your usernames and old posts were saved :D ). Other sections of the site will be brought back as soon as we can, so this place can get back to normal.
[b]Some changes/bugs for you to take note of:[/b]
- All private messaging will take place in the forums now.
- Comments in news/reviews WILL return, we just didn't have time to get it ready.
- Older news headlines on the side are not up and running, but the news archives are.
- The 'Read More' link in the news doesn't go away even in the extended article view.
Some things in the works include, a new chat room, improved horror store, and journals section.
If you have any complaints, suggestions, or you find a bug let us know here and we'll get right on it. Hopefully everyone likes the new format as much as we do...
