It appears there's a prequel script floating around, "I was at the film premiere of Freddy vs Jason this past weekend, and, during the Q&A, Robert Englund let out a major fact. There is a script going around New Line for the Nightmare on Elm Street Prequel. It is called, Elm Street: The First Murders That's all he said."
