There's nothing cooler than a show in the vein of COPS, only they're hunting down the undead! The show is such a cool idea, I don't see any reason why NOT to bring the idea into comic book form. Grimm Grotto Goods founders Matt Rose and Chad Waters are teaming up with internationally acclaimed comic book artist Jim Mahfood to bring the exploits of Officer Frank Hadley and his Post Mortem Animation Control to life in comic book form. Currently in production, the P.M.A.C. (Post Mortem Animation Control) comic book was written by Rose and Waters, then passed on to Mahfood to draw, ink and letter. Read on for the full press release, this should be something really cool!

Los Angeles, CA. (02/17/05) -- First came the award-winning short P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack!! (Watch here) and its hysterical tongue-in-cheek follow-up, Waker Safety. Then came the collectable Waker Safety puppets from Sota Toys. Now Grimm Grotto Goods founders Chad Waters and Matt Rose are teaming up with internationally acclaimed comic book artist Jim Mahfood to bring the exploits of Officer Frank Hadley and his Post Mortem Animation Control to life in comic book form. Currently in production, the P.M.A.C. comic book was written by Rose and Waters, then passed on to Mahfood to draw, ink and letter. The first in a proposed four-part series, the P.M.A.C. comic book is scheduled for release in the summer of 2005, with an official launch planned to coincide with the San Diego Comic Con, July 13, 2005.

Adapting the characters of a cult film into comic book form is nothing new for fan favorite Jim Mahfood. He began his career in comic books as the artist for Kevin Smith's acclaimed Clerks comic book adaptation, before going on to work for all of the major companies in the comic book industry, including Marvel, D.C. and Image. He has since lent his skill to characters as diverse as Spiderman, The X-Men, Grendel and The Simpsons, as well as his own creations The Grrl Scouts, Zombie Boy and Stupid Comics.

"I'm excited and flattered that the WZA guys approached me to draw the comic book," Mahfood says. "Matt and Chad are two extremely talented guys and they've successfully married two of my favorite genres, horror and comedy, into one of the most clever and unique ideas of the year. This whole project, from the show to the comic to the other multi-media things they have planned are all going to kick serious ass."

"We're very fortunate to have an artist like Jim Mahfood to translate the physical world of P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack!! into the comic realm," says co-creator Chad Waters. "He has a very unique understanding of style and humor that translates perfectly to the medium. We planned on a four-issue story, so hopefully people enjoy this first comic enough to want more."

P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack!! is an outrageous, award-winning independent short, created by special effects wizards Matt Rose and Chad Waters as a brilliant spoof of reality television. The film follows a paranormal clean-up crew--the bureau of Post Mortem Animation Control (P.M.A.C.), headed by Officer Frank Hadley (Frank Rydberg)--as they chase down and dispose of the corporally-challenged. . Running 25 minutes, this unstoppable zombie franchise has been chewing through and firing up the imaginations of some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

Guillermo del Toro, director of Hellboy, Blade II, and Devil's Backbone enthuses, "More than a skillful satire of the reality-TV format, this is bizarro world COPS. As if your cable service suddenly tapped into hell. P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack!! is a true event! Two-fisted entertainment for gore-hounds with an evil sense of humor." Frank Darabont, director of The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption raves, "WZA surpasses being skillful parody. It taps into the zombie zeitgeist of Romero and becomes legitimate horror in its own right. It's a surprising, inventive and muscular blend of genres that leaves the horror fan amused, appalled and wanting more."

P.M.A.C.: When Zombies Attack!! has appeared on Showtime Next as part of the multi-content series Piratenet, twice on MTV UK and can also currently be viewed at IFILM.com and Hollywood.com. The follow-up short, Waker Safety can now be seen at www.grimmgrottogoods.com
