Right off the bat I'd like to thank New Line and Mike over at Flashback Weekend for setting up this interview. If you live in the Chicago area, you can actually meet Robert Englund next weekend in Rosemont from June 13-15 at the Flashback Weekend Convention along with Bill Moselely, Brad Dourif, Ken Foree, Jonathan Breck, and more. Anyways, back to my interview, there's good news and bad news kiddies.
Always start with the bad news, I will not be able to post the interview in its entirety until late July, to help promote Freddy vs Jason, but the good news is that I can give you a taste, and what a taste it is! Remember to check out Flashback Weekend for your chance to meet Freddy!
Beware of possible spoilers
As always, everyone loves an explanation to photos they see and this is no exception. Robert was telling me about the "new" Freddy and about when he becomes fiercly anger, which could apply to the photos depicted.
Robert Englund: "In Nightmare on Elm Street 8, or Freddy vs Jason, we have a part where Freddy gets really pissed off, its very demonic looking make-up, I?m actually sitting here looking at the picture at my desk and I cant stick up on my website yet."
Mr D: We're watching everyday (hehehe).
Robert Englund: "Not only difficult to apply that make-up, it required really big contact lenses and exaggerated teeth, but also I had to double do it because of the underwater sequences..."
Sounds really cool, Freddy going nuts, getting mega pissed off, I like! One more little quote to get your saliva flowing, and this one involves Gunner Hansen, and Kane Hodder...
Mr D: I know Ken is supposedly a fantastic Jason and a funny guy, but do you wish Kane Hodder played Jason at all?
Robert Englund: Kane and I go back; quite simply Ronny Yu wanted a gigantic tall Jason. It was inspired by some artwork and storyboards. He envisioned it as an animated graphic novel. Kane and Ken know each other and have met over the years. I'm actually considering a project by the original Leatherface, Gunner Hansen. It would involve Kane Hodder and myself working together. It's a great kind of Blair Witch spin on the origins of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It's a very funny script and Id have an opportunity to work with Kane there!"
So keep your eyes peeled, because either at the end of July or early August we'll be posting the full interview with a kick ass contest for Freddy vs Jason.
