Updated: Is Sam Raimi Secretly Remaking ‘Evil Dead’?

Published

on

Update #4: Director revealed.

Update #3: Bruce Campbell replied to a fan via his unverified Twitter account: “@TheMike31 Believe in the remake, dawg! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell.” The Twitter was plugged on his official website giving some validity to the account/tweet! So, it sounds as if the remake is in motion? Hmmmm….

Update #2: Sources close to Raimi denying reports to Bloody.

Update #1: Upon my own personal research, I’ve learned that Raimi is casting ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ in Detroit, which takes some steam out of this story.

Back when 30 Days of Night was coming out, Sam Raimi told Bloody Disgusting that so long as he has big projects like Spider-Man on the horizon, there was little hope for a fourth The Evil Dead. His mentality was that he could make a fourth film whenever he wanted, so why jeopardize his booming career?

Mix in the development of a remake of The Evil Dead, which never found the right pitch. Raimi announced it on the heels of a successful opening for The Grudge, while simultaneously nixing any possibility of a Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash at New Line.

Then you have the fact that Raimi tossed horror fans a bone with his highly entertaining Drag Me to Hell.

How does it all add up? With the remake scene drying up, has Raimi bailed on the idea of remaking The Evil Dead? Or could Drag Me to Hell have reinvigorated the horror legend into getting behind the camera for the long-gestured/promised Evil Dead 4?

Dread Central has it on “good authority” from what they claim is a very reliable source that long-time Sam Raimi editor Bob Murawski (Army of Darkness, Spider-Man, Drag Me to Hell) has packed up and headed out to Detroit to begin work on the long talked about fourth entry into the Evil Dead franchise. They say it will be “a small indie thing like the first two.” If they’re wrong, it’s going to be one giant egg in the face…

If true, the questions are gushing: Could it be the remake? Who’s directing? If it’s NOT Evil Dead 4, what is it? What’s Bruce Campbell up to? Does this have anything to do with Campbell launching a Twitter account (@GroovyBruce) this past weekend? Were they planning to announce at Comic-Con?

As someone who is obsessed with UFOS (or more recently known as UAPs) and the concept of extraterrestrials, I love a good documentary. Sightings have been on the rise since the 1940s, with the atomic bomb seemingly acting as a catalyst for new visitors. But what are these UFOs/UAPs? Is there an explanation or are they simply beyond our explanation? Why are they here? Who are they? How much do our governments know? The questions are endless and so are the documentaries that attempt to uncover the secrets behind decades of sightings and alleged confrontations.

Whether you’re a seasoned viewer or new to the rabbit hole, there’s always a handful of interesting documentaries to get your neurons firing and leave you with sleepless nights. SCREAMBOX is investigating with the addition of several docs, all streaming now on the Bloody Disgusting-powered service. Here’s the breakdown:

Aliens (2021): Beam into this unidentified streaming documentary for a glimpse into Extraterrestrial life. Aliens are hypothetical life forms that may occur outside Earth or that did not originate on Earth.

Aliens Uncovered: Origins (2021): Before Area 51, hidden deep in the desert, the military discovered a hidden gem that helped them create Project Bluebook.

Aliens Uncovered: ET or Man-Made (2022): The crash of Roswell wasn’t meant for New Mexico. In 1947, a neighboring state had 3 major sightings that were swept under the rug.

Aliens Uncovered: The Golden Record (2023): In the late 70s, the US government launched a message to our distant neighbors.

Roswell (2021): This high-flying documentary examines the July 1947 crash of a United States Army Air Forces balloon at a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico. Theories claim the crash was actually that of a flying saucer, but what is the truth?
