Billy Crystal, Aging Vampire in Funny or Die Short!
I usually don’t post stories on webisodes or casting of a spoof, but it’s incredibly exciting news that Billy Crystal is back to performing in comedies outside of kid’s movies — and he’s going to be playing a vampire!
Bloodsuckers are big in the youth market, we know — but they’re about to skew older. A lot older. THR writes that Billy Crystal has been cast by Will Ferrell to play an aging vampire in a brief webisode for Ferrell’s comedic website Funny or Die.
Crystal needed a partner — so he called old pal Renee Taylor, who told her friends, “Billy’s going to bite my neck, but carefully — we’re senior vampires!”
The third installment in Ti West’s trilogy, A24 will be releasing X and Pearl follow-up MaXXXine in theaters July 5, and the official poster has arrived from A24 this morning.
With her past catching up to her, Maxine attempts to make it big as a superstar in mid-80s Hollywood in the upcoming MaXXXine. Check out the brand new poster art below.
Mia Goth stars alongside Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, Sophia Thatcher, and Kevin Bacon.
Here’s the official plot synopsis from A24 this week: “In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. But as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.”
Last we saw Maxine in Ti West’s X (2022), she was the sole survivor of a massacre carried out by elderly couple Howard and Pearl in the Summer of ’79. Goth of course pulled double duty as the villain Pearl in that movie, who got her own origin story in Pearl (2022). Pearl and Maxine are different characters, but they share the common goal of wanting to be stars.
Will Maxine finally make it in Hollywood? Or will the demons of her past become her ultimate downfall? With the Night Stalker roaming free, we expect MaXXXine to get wild this summer.
