A Look at ‘The Critic’ in Dark Sky’s ‘Bitter Feast’
Playing at the LA Film Festival this coming week is Dark Sky Films’ latest genre pic, Bitter Feast, which comes from mega-indie producer Larry Fessenden (The Last Winter, House of the Devil, The Roost, Stake Land, Hypothermia). In the dark thriller James LeGros plays a New York Chef and TV cooking personality, who takes culinary revenge on the food critic (Joshua Leonard), who recently savaged his restaurant in a review. We’re exclusively unveiling the new trailer and key art for the real-time nightmare below, ahead of the film’s release in select theaters and VOD on August 21.
Adam O’Brien (Mom) directs from a script by John Petrizzi and Brad Hodson.
When nurse Julia finds herself trapped inside the home of her dementia patient, she begins to suspect things are not what they seem; something demonic is seeping through the cracks of this old home. Trapped and with nowhere to turn, Julia soon finds herself in battle to rid the house of this evil before it is too late.
Dawn Ford, Emmanuelle Lussier Martinez, Bill Rowat, and Mark Antony Krupa star.
“This film depicts the most harrowing 90 minutes of our protagonist’s life, and I felt that the most visceral way to really feel this was to do a single-shot film,” O’Brien previously teased. “We are with her every step and misstep she takes – through the unraveling of the mystery to the horror of her discovery. It’s a fun, twisty roller-coaster ride that puts a new spin on exorcisms.”
Bury the Devil is the first installment in a planned trilogy. The prequel, Bury the Devil: Origin, is already in development with O’Brien returning to the helm.
O’Brien produces along with Philip Kalin-Hajdu (The Sacrifice Game) and Benoit Beaulieu (Turbo Kid).
